I have a 2017. With these latest downloads to MyLink, I have this now! And iHeartRadio!

What's really nice is that the album art now appears in the DIC when using these apps!

Dam, i was just looking around the forums and was wondering why iheart radio and other apps wont come up or able to download, 2016 here i guess is the issue. GM should have a update rather then imply only on 17'+

Correct. 2016 is the issue. The HMI is upgraded on the 2017+. The 2016 HMI has less memory and no OTA update capability. Other than the OnStar patches.

Intredasting.. looks like they added quite a few apps. I wonder why there was no mention of the HMI OTA capability when the 2017s came out.

Probably because it’s pretty limited in functionality. It’s not a full OTA upgrade system like what is coming and in the Bolt (if I remember correctly).

1) Clear View of the sky and strong/decent LTE signal on MyLink.

2) An active data plan via OnStar or bundled with your ATT account.
- Or -
Your Camaro connected to your home WiFi (any WiFi that doesn’t require a page to login like at Starbucks) or to your phone’s mobile hotspot. (It’s under the settings icon on the car not sure exact at the moment to connect to a WiFi signal).

3) It should update after a few minutes. If not try again later.
I have a 2017 with the 2SS MyLink.
Ok, Kaizer, so the car needs an LTE signal and a Wi-Fi connection. My car still gets the LTE signal, but my free OnStar trial has expired. But I do have good Wi-Fi in my driveway.
So, you are saying I should sit in my driveway with both LTE and Wi-Fi and wait? Or is there a step to initiate the process?
I also have a Samsung phone with unlimited data, which I most likely could turn into a wifi hotspot if needed. But the home wifi should work, right?
I appreciate you guys figuring this out. I was assuming any MyLink update would require a trip to the dealer.

Not sure if an active OnStar account is required.

But you should be able to connect your Camaro to either your home WiFi or cellphone hotspot in settings on the MyLink display.

Then open the App Shop on the MyLink. The updated content should be there.

If it is the update has been applied and you can download the apps. If not then maybe a few minutes to process and/or an active OnStar account may be needed.

Also of note. The apps require a data connection to work. Either via OnStar data or mobile hotspot with car connected to the hotspot.

I can confirm no active OnStar data plan is needed to get the update. I just have the basic service that comes with the car for X years.

Good. Thanks. I have a Galaxy S6, and I'll report back how this all works out!
UPDATE:
I did the app download in the driveway with a good LTE connection (but no active OnStar subscription) and the unit connected to home Wi-Fi. I selected 3 apps, and it loaded the whole list. Whatever.

You have the version which requires either a data plan for the car or a tether to your phone. The Gen5 HMI adds a native pandora app that uses your phone simply by plugging it in (or bluetooth on android) no extra networking/costs required.
