I think the quote was something like "I will run every C7 I can, its a driver's race now." To say that, when magazine tests show it can't even beat the M6 SS........sad. Dude is setting himself up for some serious heartbreak. Side note, an '18 passed me on the highway this morning. I really like the new taillights!

Here is a good example of a supercharged 18GT A-10, compare this rwhp from that seen from a ZL1 and you should get an idea of the potential.

You desperately want us to care and we just don't. The GT is not doing anything that we haven't been doing since the end of 2015. It took a hell of a lot to finally get you here. And at the end of the day you have a one-trick pony that can run well in a straight line but gets completely obliterated in every other performance category. And STILL manages to lose to it's top competitor in the quarter mile. So what are we supposed to be impressed with? The fact that it still loses in everything but got slightly faster than the 15-17 in a straight line? I find it impressive that Ford has all these changes and modes and options and revisions and still lost.

Times have changed in the Pony Car segment. At 50k not many people want a car that has a "mess" with the steering, a phonebook waterbed feel, and still the slowest 1/4 of the herd. The current 18 GT doesn't do anything at this point better than the competition does. Absolutely nothing. |

Ran across this in another thread. Think this is an interesting read...
"Ford just teased the GT500. Where do you see the GT500 vs. ZL1 rivalry going? (Al O.)I think they’ve got a lot to catch up on. They haven’t had anything for a while. I think our SS 1LE pretty much put the GT350R in second place, all around. Anybody that’s evaluated them head-to-head, it’s a better deal on price and performance. So the ZL1 is our triple-threat car, best of the track, street, and strip. We’ve pushed the limits with the ZL1 1LE, so we’ve got a nice ZL1 package, depending on what your needs are. We’ve put the bar pretty high. We’ve shown in two generations it’s not only about horsepower, it’s “can you get that horsepower to turn?” Is their mission to be street/strip? Is their mission to be a triple threat like we are? We’re ready. We’ve seen them around town in camouflage and so on. Again, I love the fact that we keep swinging at each other because it keeps the segment relevant and it keeps people asking, “What are you doing next?” We’re never going to stop, but we’ve done quite a bit to raise the bar on the ZL1 family." https://www.hagerty.com/articles-vid...iser-interview

And Al isn't lying They do have a lot to catch up on. I'd agree with others here that have stated that's probably why it was so delayed.
And the never going to stop bit is interesting. Sounds to me like maybe the sitting pat last gen they realized might have been mistake. |

GM clearly has the Pony car part nailed and the Vette. But other than that IMO they don't care about the enthusiast demographic as much |
