Nope, a overlay pic of the two hoods was sent over. The outline was completely different. GM is getting smarter, they are doing what they can to keep clones from easily being done. Not the first time either.

On the C6 Corvette owners loved the C6Z front nose as it had the opening in it for fresh air, so they would try and put it on the base C6 cars. Well it fits, other than it was wider than the base C6 nose and required the C6Z front fenders as well if you wanted it to match correctly. Well then you had to add in the rear C6Z fenders and then wheels/tires otherwise it looked off.

See GM is getting smarter, they want the more exclusive cars to stay exclusive.

I bet GM cares a lot less about people parts swapping to make clones than owners do.

They muck around with the fascia, fenders, and hood to make the car perform better & look right. As you said, a wider fascia requires fenders that sit out farther, which then requires a wider hood. No anti-cloning conspiracy required for that to make perfect sense.

Yeah, i like the look of your hood, especially from the front. Did it feel any lighter than the stock one?

There may be coupe pounds different, the stock hood is aluminum so it is light to begin with. You do need to drill holes in the hood for the hood struts and I chose the carbon creations flush mount hood latch. They were a PITA to install but looks and works great, they were only 30 bucks, https://www.carid.com/extreme-dimens...AaAo-FEALw_wcB

Yep. I considered that; painting it matte black. I wanted to see some C.F. options first. I'm definately not rewraping it.

I was thinking a carbon fiber wrap, but I guess not.

I'm still open to that, just not rewraping with the OEM matte wrap. It shows scratches too easily.

The carbon fiber hood is really sweet looking though. I like the gloss look

Not sure on the Camaro, but for the Miata I have all the carbon hoods were heavier than the factory aluminum, save for one. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to find the same with the Camaro. I have a VIS carbon on my Tacoma and it's actually fiberglass with a carbon fiber exterior. Does anyone know if these Camaro hoods are pure carbon?

On my 5th gen it was fiberglass with carbon fiber exterior. I would imagine any would be the same. The 5th gen one had maybe 1-2lbs lower weight, but that is just a guess. I never weighed them. I was told they didn't reduce weight enough to matter.

Ive owned too many italian motorcycles with high dollar carbon fiber bits to trust a cf hood on anything but a show car or an occasional use vehicle. UV in my experience always wins against carbon fiber. It does look sweet for awhile.
