msd intake ports look terrible

is this normal? every port needs touched up, some have huge gaps coinciding with bulging material into the runner. wtf. not gonna lie, i expected more than this.

Those are the spots I smoothed out. Left everything else alone.

I don’t remember them looking that bad but I do remember having the same reaction when opening the box and instantly walking towards the compressor. Lol

I went to Holley and had a look, the webpage photo is not like that at all. States you can easily port to match but it’s pretty smooth in photo

Another thing too, store the manifold as it was delivered. Do not torque the shells together and leave it like that and not bolted to the car. look at what happens to the corners when you torque the bolts before bolting to the car...
eh i'll get to it tomorrow. i saw what you're saying about storage. i noticed it was pinched on the corners as shipped and decided to leave it until i put it on the car.

By dremel you mean a die grinder w/ a non-ferrous carbide burr, of various profiles, right?

Not for plastic LMAO...all you need is a sandroll cartridge and a dremel.

Ha, muh bad. Thought this was AL.

Then again, I have used ferrous bits on plastic.

that's exactly what i used. only issue, the dremel gave up the ghost 3 ports in. so i had to bust out the 100 grit, finished all of them with 220.

i reused the stock intake tube. it proved to be a real pain in ass. the tb adapter pushed the tb out just far enough to put the tube in a bind when connected to the air box. ended up trimming the tube. i guess i'll concede and put the rotofab tube on soon.

I feel your pain! Dremels are really made for small craft jobs; overheat one and they go bye bye. I burnt a couple in high school before I learned my lesson.

I have a dremel that has ported a few sets of exhaust manifolds (L67 3800 supercharged engines years ago) along with several other things such as gutting and modifying stock intake boxes. I would say it's a case of "they don't make things like they use to".

to be fair, the dremel last saw what i would call heavy use back in 1994 cleaning up a set of cyl heads. it has been used a lot since then but very small jobs.
