2018 door panel gap

Hi

Has anyone had an issue with passenger side door fitment. I just picked up my 2018 Zl1 today... and noticed the passenger side door rubs the fender when it opens... so much so that the paint has chipped off

I contacted my local dealer immediately but they cant look at the car for 2 weeks

Are their any GM customer service reps here that could help escalate a resolution to this issue?

Thanks

Thanks

I thought they would be right on it as well. 😕

The gap at the top of the door to fender is ALOT wider than the bottom on mine.

I never noticed at the dealership, but I never got in on the passenger side 😕

No Excuse!

I would take the car back ASAP and take nothing less then fix it NOW!

You just purchased a new over $60K car (looks AWESOME), and they are telling you wait 2 weeks! You can not even open the door without it rubbing on other parts of the car. You will start destroying the car, or not have any passengers.

I am sure its only a door adjustment, but I would make it my top priority as the new owner to have this fixed. Car never should of been driven off the dealer lot this way.

Good Luck!

I wonder if the issue is more than meets the eye. Check underneath for scratches or signs of damage.

Everything else looks good other than the door gap.

Its hard to believe this made it through GM's quality control and all the way to the dealer like this 😔

The car is brand new... 4 miles on it when I took delivery today.

Mine was covered in scratches where the stripe was installed at the factory. It looked like it was stored in a room with dozens of cats for a few weeks prior to delivery. I bet I had 16-20 hours invested in getting them polished out.

Also my steering wheel wasn't straight during the factory alignment. So with 3 miles on it, I had to hold the steering wheel like I was turning to go straight.

I'm not sure GM has quality control anymore.

Piss poor dealer PDI. Nice ride. A lesson to be learned, lookyour vehicle over very carefully, any flaws whatsoever refuse to take delivery and you will get action. They all want you to sign away so they can get their commissions.Hope they have a reputable service department

totally off...I would have left my car in Delaware if it had looked like that. I told my dealer before delivery that they can leave all of the plastic on it and leave it dirty if they were going to scratch it. They assured me their crew was the best at PDI and detailing. To my surprise, they were correct and I checked it thoroughly before I signed the purchase agreement. Sometimes dealers aren't FOS...

Congrats on the car!! Sorry to hear and see it has an issue. Hard to tell from pics, but the rear door gap looks to be right, and all the body lines look like they line up. I would guess the misalignment is in the fender someway. That's definitely not typical for the Camaro. All of my panel gaps are among the best I've ever seen. Even and tight!

POSSIBLE CAUSE ???

Welcome to the forum! Sorry about the beginning of your ownership experience.

I hope I am incorrect. Is it possible that the car exited the factory OK then was damaged upon removal from the final car hauler or worse during dealership lifting during PDI and front deflector installation? You may wish to use a mirror or direct visual inspection at and around the pinch weld lift location at the front of the car behind the front wheel for evidence of lower fender side skirt damage. If you find any damage, get it back to your dealer ASAP. If there is damage, any delay will give the dealer an excuse to blame you. While factory quality, for certain issues like paint finish has not been stellar, not being able to open a door without it rubbing or binding seems extreme for a factory issue. Again, I hope I'm wrong. But if there is damage, find a way to report it right away, even if you have to show another dealer.

I wish you best of luck whatever the source of your issue!

My 2018 has weird door gap issues, too. It doesn't rub on anything, though. I looked at a few other 2018 ZL1s and a couple had the same deal. I actually had a 2017 ZL1 that I ended up returning to the dealer because of paint quality issues. I've just come to accept that even though it's a $65k car, underneath it all, it's still a Chevy and and there will be compromises for this level of performance at this price point.

I have to say fit has been much better than expected, and definitely better than my GT350, however the finish before correction and application of feynlab's self-healing plus coating was very scratched up and swirly (dealer had done prep and i ran it through a car wash in first week...). The paint is perfect now and fine scratches disappear like magic...

Check out video at www.feynlab.com; it did cost me $3k for some high strike area wrap and the coating, which i will never recover at resale... Superb job by Rick and his team at Unique Car Care in Andover, MA

I'm taking my car back into the dealer today, even though they couldn't schedule me in for 2wks 😠

I'll get some better pics of the gap or lack there of at the bottom of the door to the fender.
