Driver side door alignment off - rubbing issues + paint issues.

This morning when I was getting into my car I noticed there was a dark spot in between the fender and the driver side door. Upon further inspection I noticed that the paint had completely rubbed off and bare metal was exposed.

I opened the door slowly to see what was causing this. It seems the alignment is off and the door is rubbing with the fender.

Contacted my excellent service adviser, she asked me to bring the vehicle in. It will most likely be going to the body shop.

Ouch that sucks. Hopefully they get that taken care of for you.

So far nothing that big here, but I do have a "nub" on my drivers door. It's on the inside facing the the body about a 10 inches below the door latch. This body joint adhesive and paint "nub" is rubbing on the door frame when driving. The vibration from driving a few hundred miles already made a slight dull mark on the paint.

UPDATE - The car was dropped off and will be taken to a body shop. I was told after the door is aligned, both the fender and the door will be repainted.

Hope this goes well....

UPDATE - Service adviser said the body shop opted to not paint the vehicle and just use touch up paint instead.

Fingers crossed.

I am having the same issue on my rocker panels, they say the doors are out of line and they will adjust the doors and touch up paint.

I just had my fender re-aligned to my door on the passengers side. They said they just used an airbrush to touch up the paint. It looks 100% now. Can't even tell anything was done.

Check the seam sealer on your doors too. Mine was rubbing the paint raw on the inside jamb. It was way thick and blobby in a few spots, shaved it down with a razor blade and touched up those areas on the jamb.

Red car trunk was rubbing on drivers side removed the paint on the top corner, blue car the trunk rubbing on the tale light, if spraying a tale light can make it stike out to the point the trunk hits it, this is nuts.

Just realized I have this exact problem on my driver door. Does anyone know if they adjust the fender alignment or door alignment or both?

Most likely the fender rather than the door that is out of alignment. It's just some thin sheet metal. You can likely push or pull it into place yourself if you don't want to see the dealer, but depends how confident you are. There isn't much under there.

I guess I'll hang on to my Gen5 a while longer.

And no, I wouldn't accept touch-up. Only full-on respray and blending is acceptable to return this damaged area to factory correct condition.

Fight it!
