Cruze: Made in Russia

GM opened its first Russian factory in St. Petersburg. Medvedev showed up to the opening ceremony, and he seemed far friendlier than the Georgia crisis. Do you guys think that this is good for US-Russian relations? GM and other companies could bring Russia into the West with business relationships like this one.

Discuss.

Yeah, well GM has had "great success" with selling its Hummer brand in Russia. So GM-Russia relations wouldn't hurt...

It just seemed to be a different Medvedev than the guy who put Putin at the podium to threaten the West. I wonder if business relationships or investment in Russia by US companies could be good for a foreign policy disaster-plagued United States.

In any case, it is good to see GM building products in markets where it can continue to make big sales.
