It was real. What people don't realize is that those "tests" they run are not universal truck tests. They were built specifically for the Tundra and around its capabilities in order to showcase the truck. They were all designed so that it would look like the truck was kicking ass, when in reality there is no way the truck couldn't have done them.

Oh, and the one about towing 10,000 pounds and stopping, then accelerating before the swinging I-beam hits it? They are adding in the weight of the truck, you can't carry 10,000 pounds of concrete in that shitty little trailer they pulled.

I figured they were all stunts and done with a little bit of trick camera angles.

Yes all the Tundra commercials are real actually filmed with the truck and a stunt driver. what they dont tell you though is the engineers put a little physics play into the equation. when they drop that dead weight off the cliff the truck is actually on a slight incline leading up to the edge, so the dead weight is trying to pull the truck up a hill... not so easy when it weighs less than the truck dont you think? then to get it going again they deflate the tires to get better traction and charge on ahead. the whole sesaw act i beleive they split the weight to give the truck better traction, and then of course used camera angles to make it look very steep. then when it comes charging down the other side they slide to a stop right before the end. do you like how well those trailer brakes just worked? you can re-enact all of the commercials, if conditions are correct. heck you could probably do it with an old 454 chevy suburban, though addmitedly the tundra may get better fuel economy.
