Looking to cam my car.

Hi everyone! I have a 2023 Camaro SS 1LE (A10) and I think its about time to swap the camshaft out. I was wondering if there are any shops you guys would reccomend for me to check out for the labor... I want spend around $2k-$4k for labor. Thanks!

Accelerated Racing Solutions is the ONLY place in North Texas that will work on my car moving forward. And trust me I've used other shops here and it's not even close.

Good luck! Most shops want 8k otd tuned and ready to go! Not worth it in my opinion. Good luck tho! Might as well go boost

21st Century Muscle Cars in Addison is an experienced, reputable shop. They've done multiple builds for me in the past including my current ride.

Unfortunately a cam swap to these cars take alittle more effort vs old school sbc and ls motors. I think the least amount if seen is right arpund $6k. You would be better of going with a super charger

But then you still have the crappy lifters. Not to mention to take full advantage of the S/C you should swap in a blower specific cam. Of course a forged bottom end would be best for max power and longevity as you add a bit more boost just cuz you can. LOL! I'm also curious as to the additional parts and or labor needed for a LT cam swap as opposed to an LS.

I don't think a cam swap alone is worth doing on these cars, as others have already indicated. Better to start with a power target and figure out what it takes to reach it, rather than go with the "let's change this one thing and see how much it helps with performance" strategy.

AFM lifters definitely need to be gone, a Katech oil pump swap is a wise choice while the engine is open, the new cam will want different valve springs, then if OP wants more power, he may need a larger CAI, throttle body, long tube headers and a different cat setup, fueling may need to be improved for E85 that is an absolute no brainer to add... in terms of labor, unless he can do it all, this may well be too expensive for him considering for the power gains, so he might as well throw in forced induction.

These cars run great with boost on the stock cam/lifters/SBE when setup correctly. The only thing they really need is E60 and proper crank case ventilation. 10-11 psi of boost and you are pushing 700-720whp and have the capability to run 9's in the 1/4 with traction.

Look, I have the latest, allegedly more sturdy LT4 oil pump revision in my car (Katech's wasn't out yet while my engine was last taken apart in Ted's shop), it's the one you have as well in your 2020 ZL1, but I'm monitoring oil pressures like a hawk and would still get the Katech in a heartbeat if there was any other reason to open up the engine again.

Why roll the dice when you can make 99.999% sure your oil pump will not fail?

Yeah would be great peace of mind. Will keep that in mind when I go cam someday.
