Random no start

So yesterday i left for work and drove about 10 mins to the gas station before i went to work. At the gas pump i pushed the start/stop button and it didn't turn off, i pushed it a couple more times and it turned off but said key not detected.
I was thinking i left my key at home, but i felt in my pocket that the key was there. I pulled it out and none of the buttons were working. I had 3 spare batteries in my console so i swapped it out. Still nothing, i put the key in the cup holder where the direct contact antenna is. Still nothing. I ended up going inside to get a drink and came back out. Still no button function, still no start. I called my boss to tell him I'm gonna be late and it just randomly started while i was on the phone with him.
Got to work and the buttons work fine and the car starts everytime.
Not really sure what direction to go with on this one so i ordered a new key from chevy. The buttons lettering is all worn out so i figured it wouldn't be a bad place to start.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

If it happens again after you get the new FOB, I’d have the BCM scanned for any codes. Low battery voltage could also be a culprit.

I have the new key. I programmed it yesterday. The old one is still at work.

There were no codes in any modules so that's why i leaned on the key being the fault. Its like if someone tried to start the car with no key. It wont be displayed as a fault, it will just not start.

You’re probably right and hopefully that’s the end of that.
I am curious, when you get a new FOB does it come with the another key or do you take your old one out of the old FOB and place it into the new one? I’m asking because it would seem that the key that came with your original would be the only one that could unlock your emergency lock on the door handle.

If this fob #1 that came with the car, what happens with fob #2?
Or do you only have one fob?

I have experience weird behavior like this when fob battery needs changing. It's like the car detects the fob with the weak battery, but it doesn't fully "adjust" to the new battery until you walk away and come back. It's like turning wi-fi on-and-off to get a device recognized.

It was just the fob portion. I swapped the key blade over to the new fob.

Well, hopefully that fixed it. Hasn't happened to me yet. But if it does happen again, we definitely know that it isn't fob related and probably something else.

To give you guys an update on this. My car didn't start again yesterday. Same symptoms. No key detected, the buttons on the fob did nothing. I put the key on the cup holder contact antenna and after about 10 seconds itv was able to start. But i noticed it said on the cluster that i was driver 4. I was pretty sure i have 3 keys learned including the new key i got the other day. So i shutb the car off and got out. The fob buttons were working again so i got back in and started it and it was back to I'm driver 3 again.
Ive driven it all weekend with my autel scanner in the car but it hasn't acted up again.

Sounds like it might be time for a new car battery. These cars will do all sorts of weird shit with a weak battery.
