High heat paint is made for high heat items like calipers, blocks, etc. The plastic cover doesn't get that hot. A dark colored hood in full sun gets hotter than anything in the engine compartment. Just buy a good quality paint. Several light coats is always better than fewer heavy ones and will hold up to temps better.

Last time I painted an intake cover was my 4th gen. Trick is in the prep. Clean clean clean. Then, I forgot what it's called but there is a primer made for plastic to help the paint stick. As said, light coats are better than thick coats. When you're done, let it cure for as long as you can possibly wait!

I painted mine with regular automotive spray can paint from Advance Auto. As mentioned, prep is the key. Scuff with a ScotchBrite pad and clean.

I use Bulldog adhesion promoter anytime I'm paint plastic. I painted the plastic valve covers on my LT1 with success. As stated, yes, prep is always key. I always clean real good with soap and water, then wipe down with alcohol.

Painted LT2

I used touch up direct color matched, no promoter just fine sandpaper over it first then alcohol wipes.

I’ve used a primer specifically for plastic.

I have a spray booth in my basement, so I can use automotive paints. They make a 2 part epoxy paint in a spray can that seems to look nice. I have never used it but have seen the results, they looked good. It would be chemical proof being epoxy. Do a search for 2K Aerospray.
