Intake Manifold question

What is this sensor called that plugs into the intake manifold on the passenger side right behind the throttle body? The hose that is connected to it and runs up next to the engine cover came disconnected at the junction near the firewall. I think that's why I've had idle issues and hesitation. I don't knoe how it came unplugged but I noticed it when I was installing my ported IM.
I posted this in General Discussions but probably should have put it here.

Looks like the bolt that holds it in came out, unless you took it out? And yes like King said its the EVAP "purge" solenoid, so it turns out occasionally and the motor will suck fumes out of a charcoal canister until its empty near the fuel tank. The canister is to let the fuel tank vent and the charcoal captures the fumes so they don't go to the atmosphere and instead get burned as fuel in the motor.

In that case a dab of gasket maker might be better

mine was caused by the sensor not sitting in the port correctly. i had to add a spacer between the manifold and sensor for the bolt to go thru.

Old post, but what sensor are you referring to here? The actual purge valve solenoid?
