A10 Clutches Slipping?

The car felt really odd this morning. It felt like it wasn't getting to the shift points as quickly as in the past. What PID do I look at to determine if the clutches are slipping?

This is my first A10. It's actually my first transmission where I was wondering about slipping clutches.

Log the last completed shift time.

Jason is already logging that one; the time is like 0.1-0.2s, so I added time of the latest 4-5 shift. He is not seeing any slipping so perhaps I'm just paranoid but something's not right at wot.

Jason knows these things LOL…if he says you’re fine, you most likely are. 0.1-0.2 is perfectly fine. I was averaging around .18-.20 seconds at low to mid boost… then when I turned up the boost to about 85-90% that 4-5 shift went to 0.6 seconds…not good. I then tried full boost and the 4-5 shift went to a whopping *1.6 seconds* on what would have been a new personal best run….and then I pulled the transmission out lol…

Trans oil probably needed to get to operating temp. I know when the trans temp sensor in my C7 8l90e started acting up, converter lock up felt abnormal

There's a distinct vibration today in 4th between 6000 and 7000. The only change from, say, two weeks ago when this wasn't happening is going down to the 2.75 pulley, so I'm going to replace the belt. It also does it with TC on. I've swapped upper pullies a bunch of times using this belt. At least we'll eliminate a variable.

I'm not sure how it is in your area but weather is changing here with colder mornings lately. Colder temps can make the trans take longer to heat up, throwing off shifting a little bit. They can also have an affect on the engines characteristics and thus the indicated torque its making and what the trans uses to apply clutches, converter etc.

I agree. It's driveable but very unhappy in 4th at wot. It vibrates from 5000-7000 and the red shift light flashes [which also sounds like a slipping belt]. Jason looked at the data in every possible way, and we agree that there are probably clutches giving out and even if they're not, it's inevitable that they give out, so might as well just do it on my schedule.

My shop drove the car and put it on the lift and found the driveshaft rubbing the tunnel plus he says the backseat delete makes it sound worse. He doesn't believe its the transmission. So, do I send it to Pure or not?

How is the driveshaft rubbing the tunnel…? Are you still running the OEM driveshaft?

Agree with your shop 100% about the backseat delete…made the car so much louder.

If your shift times are still good then you probably don’t need to build the transmission…yet lol

No lol… I’m on a GForce aluminum one piece. The OEM SS driveshaft is weaker than the ZL1 DS so I snapped it a while ago.

If you’re on the OEM DS I’m just wondering how it could be rubbing in the tunnel, unless the rubber mounts are cooked.
