MCS/Vorshlag coil overs installed on my ZLE

As some of you may already know from this earlier thread, I was looking for a better ride from my ZLE and decided on the MCS setup purchased and assembled through Vorshlag:

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=624998

Well it’s taken a minute or two for sure but I finally installed them over the last couple days as I also swapped out my AP racing brakes back to stock as I am no longer tracking the ZLE. I got my alignment as close as possible by using toe plates and making equal adjustments on each side and it seems good enough for a test drive and trip to the alignment shop.

As soon as I backed it out of the shop I noticed the difference. There are 18 clicks of rebound adjustment and I set both front and rear at 8. After a few miles of driving, it felt like somewhere between tour and sport on my other non-1LE ZL1. I absolutely love it and I’m glad I did it. I’m going to play with the settings as it’s easy under the hood and not terribly difficult in the rear as the fender liner is already cut where the knob is, so jacking up the rear will provide access to them.

Included with the kit is longer adjustable front sway bar links which allow the suspension to use all of the available travel in the struts without binding. After scaling with the links disconnected I’ve ordered the SPL adjustable links for the rear as well.

The only thing that could have been better is if they would have provided a place to secure the brake line and ABS sensor cable to the strut like the factory strut. They did provide an area on the strut with some 10/32 threaded holes that I was able to use to secure a bracket that I made so it worked out OK.

Very nice upgrade! I have been looking into getting MCS for my car as well, but mine would be replacing the factory magnaride. I have the DSC sport controller, Vorshlag camber plates, and Eibach springs currently. It does extremely well on track and has great ride quality on the street, which makes it hard to justify! I also have been looking at the DCS sport coilovers since I already have magnaride and the controller.

I would love to hear your feedback on them if/when you do track the car again.

My SLE had all solid rear arms and DSSVs, pretty harsh ride and not super fun to roll down the road. My ZLE has 2 way MCS and I just did a 4 hour trip with it, simply setting all the compression and rebound settings to min.... not bad at all!

Mine just came in the other day after ordering in late May. Putting them on this week along with SPL front tension rods, rear upper arms w/ eccentric lock out, and front and rear endlinks. I am planning on just zip tying the cables.

Another update, after looking closer at my camber it was apparent that even though I had the knuckle maxed out against the eccentric and the camber plates all the way to the outside the camber still didn’t look right. It still had too much negative camber. Not a problem for the track but wouldn’t work when trying to align to street specs. A quick check with a large square against my street aligned cars confirmed this. I took it back to my shop and ground out the eccentric on the top bolt of the strut/knuckle until it was similar to my street alignments.
