Which billet thermostat housing + thermostat?

Which brand billet thermostat housing, which thermostat to go with it and which temperature?

The Katech looks good but which temperature? 160 or 174? Which billet housing will it fit?

Any other suggestions?

ZLE used for road racing.

Katech is the only tstat to use IMO. Mishimoto, Weapon X, etc are all junk and will overheat your car when they fail. Use the 160 if you are tuning your ECM and use the 174 version if you need to keep the stock tune.

Do you have to tune your ECM to use a 160???? How the hell does the ECM know this? these new cars are wild. I remember when I ran a car without the thermostat totally (froze closed so I removed it). Ran great for years without it, just took a while to warm up, and never got warm to hot..... Anyways, wow, new cars man, amazing. Since I live in hot-ass Udon Thani, Thailand, I'd love to change my Thermo down as far as possible. Its damn near December and it was 94 today. Went to the CRV to get the tools to fix a seat belt issue on a friends car and the socket roasted my hand and my CRV windows are totally shaded. There are thre seasons here, Hot, Very Hot, and Freakin Blazing. So the 1st thing I do when I get the ZL1 next week is protect her against the sun. So a low Temp Thermo would be good.

I do not believe a tune change is necessary for the 160F as I don't believe HPE tuned for mine.

False. If you don't change the mechanical thermostat setting in the tune, you will get a code for the car not coming up to the expected temp.

I've never gotten that code and it runs when hot at +/-185F but it takes awhile to get up there. I'm not convinced there's any measurable benefit of this thermostat.

Your car is tuned, so you wouldn’t get the code...

Yep, see the attached screenshot from HP Tuners showing where you need to make the change to 160 once you install the new thermostat. The car has a 194 thermostat setting from the factory, so if the car runs for a while and doesn't get to 194, you get a code.

With the Katech 160 thermostat and new fan settings (see second pic), my car cruises in the 170-180 degree range, which is perfect IMO.

I change the tstat in my C7 and I dont believe it required a tune, however, the fans needed to be adjusted in accordance with the tstat. I would suspect it would be the same for the ZL1.

Interesting, I ran a 180 degree Mishimoto in my Hellcat for almost 4 years without issue.
