Has anyone replaced the OEM steering wheel with a quick release?
Turning the ZLE into a track only car including a weld in full cage
Should make getting in/out of the car with full cage a little easier
Haven't seen anything out there that would allow a removable steering wheel
My biggest concern is the paddles that are used to turn rev-match on/off

Car is 100% track car
I need to do this to make in/out easier with 6pt and halo seats
Don't need most the functions except Rev match

If you are able to find something, it would be very easy to relocate the rev match switch. You can just tap into the wires and install an on/off switch anywhere in the car. You wouldn't need to have the physical paddles behind the steering wheel.

As far as the quick release itself, here is the hub you will need. This is just to adapt from the Camaro to a universal wheel setup:

After buying the hub, you will still need the quick release and a new steering wheel. You can use your choice of brand for the quick release and steering wheel as long as it is a 6 bolt design setup. My recommendation would be to get a quality brand like Works Bell for the quick release and a quality steering wheel. NRG is fine for the hub (since it is just a block of aluminum, but I wouldn't use their quick release.

To my knowledge there is no way to use the original steering wheel with a quick release. Hope this helps!

Looking at doing the same thing in the 89x WRL car. I have an A10 so having the paddles complicates things a bit more but it would be awesome to have. If we come up with something I'll definitely post it up.

What's the plan with the car? Just DEs or looking to do some TT and racing?

There are aftermarket steering wheel options that have buttons/paddles built into them. I would just get something like that and do the same thing I mentioned above.

A race shop that does fabrication should be able to make something that would use the https://getnrg.com/products/srk-178h and one of their quick release to mount a racing wheel. Also relocate the electronics that you need. Just need the $$$

What is the weight now with a lot of interior removed? I assume you removed AC.

Also, are you sticking with the DSSVs or replacing with other coilovers? Seems like MCS has good options, and maybe the Ohlins used in the GT4.R

I'd love to convert my ZLE to a race car, but then I'd have to tow it to the track and never drive it in the LA canyons near my house which I do often.

I haven't seen a full conversion ZLE track car at the track yet but I see dozens of Mustang GT350 and standard GT track cars. Not sure why that's true.
