Change color of wheels

Has anyone tried to repowdercoat their original ZL1 wheels a different color? Is it even possible without ruining them because of the heating process? I would not even consider paint as it's not durable enough.

Honestly I’ve spoke with a few powder coaters an they it’s not a issue because it’s up to temp and then cool not a sustained high temp, they also stated you can a low temp curing powder. The the experts say if you heat forged wheels it causes artificial aging which leads to brittleness.

While we’re on the topic of ZL1 wheels, as someone who’s looking to buy them, is it better to keep the factory color vs. powder coat gloss black because of the inevitable brake dust?

Might want to read this thread before you consider powder coating your wheels: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=615743

I do Cerakote, I did a flat black on my wheels. Doesn't need heat to cure, UV stable, not as thick as Powercoat.

Try to find someone in your area who does Cerakote.

I'm going to be trying white hyperdip on my rims next weekend. Might be an option to see how it looks.
