174 versus Stock Thermostat
I know this has probably been discussed several times on past forums posts (I can't find) but I was watching a FB post by jannetty racing and Ted and crew did a tune, a CAI, and a 170 thermostat on a 2023 Camaro 2ss. Stock hp ~385 ish, but after the minor upgrades, I believe it dyno'd around 412ish. I have seen discussions both ways about installing a 170 thermostat versus stock and pros and cons, but what are your thoughts on this minor swap?

On a forced induction setup I like running things a tick cooler than stock. This lets the fans run more often too which will pull more airflow through the heat exchanger. Just because you’re running a colder thermostat doesn’t mean that’s what temp the engine will run…that’s more in your ECM fan settings. For example, I run a 160 thermostat but in most warm weather the car runs 174-180 degrees, which is great IMO.
