MGW VS Barton Shifter.
Hi, So I have been leaning towards the MGW for a while, But I have been doing research and the Barton seems like a pretty solid choice as well and they are pretty close to me shop wise.
I have not seen much on the Barton in recent posts, I know most will probably say go MGW but was wondering if there were any long term Barton users or maybe people that have installed fairly recently and had any input. Price really is not the issue, Install seems quicker with the Barton and both look nice, MGW does offer different colors where I'd probably have to Powder coat or paint the Barton. Shift/Performance wise is there much of a difference? I am not confident that I wont miss a shift with the Stock shifter.

I have the Barton, but no experience with the MGW. I have no complaints about the Barton, but the MGW looks more solid. I was modifying the Barton upper shaft to give an even shorter throw and did not like the result. They were kind enough to sell me just that part for around $50, so I felt the service was pretty good.

I tried to call them a few times today with no luck, I did get someone on the phone once and they said Dave would call me back from Barton but no returned call. The Barton does appear to be a solid choice and I may lean that way if I can get someone on the Phone, Customer service is important to me.

How Was the Install of the Barton? Did you have to lower the Tranny?

It was years ago, but I think I just dropped the trans crossmember and let it tilt down. That is more to get at those clips etc. I have a Hurst shifter in the vert and the Barton was no different than that when it came to installation.

Put it in D and push pedal on the right. Automatics make it easy for some folks.

Hard to beat that kind of service, but I've never actually laid hands on an MGW.

Now I am on the fence about looks, i do Like how the factory shifter looks, I Don't even mind the throw of the shifter I just wish it had a more positive feel for what gear I was choosing.

mgw all the way i've had 2 one in my 4th gen and now in my fifth gen. cant get any better. customer service second to none. they make a stalk that fits your shifter handle if thats what you like. the only shifter spring loaded that centers you on third also. no mushy reuse of factory rubber bushings like all the others. cost more possibly, imo best in class

I took out my stock shifter and installed the Barton. Didn’t drop the trans. Tight fit getting in there but made it work without too many bad words. Great install. Definitely a shorter throw pattern and no issues after a year or so. No experience with MGW. I’d buy Barton again for sure

I am still on the fence about what which to get, or just keep the stock.
