Angry New car trouble already

Took delivery of my '22 Camaro in March the car was in transit so it didn't have a chance for it sit on their lot longer than 12 hours. When I picked it up it still had all the wrapping paper still on it. I drove it back home and I noticed wireless Carplay would randomly disconnect, didn't think much of it. I ended up plugging a usb cable into my phone and that temporarily fixed it. I also noticed while on phone calls that the other person couldn't hear me.

I had to constantly keep leaning over the steering wheel towards the column for them to hear me better. Car did fine until May when I randomly get a notification on my phone from the app to service pretty much everything (Stabilitrak, Engine, Airbag, emissions, etc). After turning the car off and back on it went away. I scheduled a service appointment at a dealership close to me for my first oil change and took it in, told them what was going on with the message. They stated if the service message popped up again to notify them. The entire time I'm trying to figure out why people can't hear me from the driver side mic. I kept figuring it was either my phone or a setting I was missing. Tried troubleshooting for a month.

I ended up scheduling an appointment in June with my closest dealership about the mic. I notify them what was going on, they confirm it, and order a new mic. Drove car normally and it was fine until yesterday morning. I got up for work and tried to remote start through the app. The command wouldn't push so I figured it was my phone. I went to the car and tried to start it up and it wouldn't start. The battery while in accessories showed just under 14v. So, I jumped it and drove it to work and it was fine during the drive. Well, I went to leave work and start it...dead again. So I jumped it drove around for a little bit and went home.

This morning I got up to check the car again...dead again. I put it into accessories to check the battery level and it was a bit over 9v. I jumped it and it went right back to 14v. I took it out for an HOUR drive at highway speeds to charge the battery. On my drive home I noticed that every time I hit a bump in the road the rear view camera would flicker. I get home park in my garage and start recording. Before I could turn off the car a message popped up on the dash saying "Side Detection Temporarily Unavailable" but now there was a vibration or a shudder happening. I turned the car off and when I went to start it....dead but with a check engine light popping up. I have a tow on the way but this honestly disappointing because the last car I had was unreliable and had electrical problems. And I hate to go through the stress all over again of "will it turn over in the morning or will it need to be jumped.", "can I make it to work or will it die while I'm driving".

The kicker is I contacted the dealership I bought it from yesterday about another issue (non electrical) I was having. That dealership contacted GM and found out the car was built wrong from factory.

Has anyone had any problems like this with their car or is possible GM built lemon by mistake?

Not a good story, but this particular bit is intriguing. Does this mean they built some of the wrong options? How did this car get out of quality inspections if it was so easy for a dealer to find out it was "built wrong."

When I called originally it was about the interior trim panel. The panel is missing the carbon fiber, I looked at other shock and steels and compared my window sticker to theirs and there's nothing different on the sticker. I know when the car arrived it didn't have the premium floor mats and that was sent the dealer almost two months later.

It sounds like a bad battery. It isn’t common with a new car but it happens.

So you didn't have it detailed and PDI done by a tech? Maybe I missed something.

Quick notes about voltage and batteries.

A battery floats (sits) around 12.5-12.8VDC when healthy. Only the alternator can generate 14VDC in a car. When you measure 14V, you're measuring the alternator output when the car is running.

A battery is typically made up of internal cells and failure of a cell will result in a loss of voltage by about 2-2.5VDC.

A battery that measures 9VDC at rest is heavily drained and likely bad. The lowest a battery should ever rest is 11.5VDC to remain healthy.

Voltage is relative to the measurement locations and any resistance between them. When discussing voltage readings it is helpful to know the precise locations of both voltage meter probes. Do not rely on a dash meter for this, use a DMM.

A loose ground is of primary interest here. Inspect the ground from the engine to chassis and the ground from the battery to the chassis. Inspect means try to wiggle it, it should be tight.

A bad battery is possible, but a parasitic drain on the battery is also possible. Remove the battery, have it tested at a shop, and replace if necessary. Age doesn't matter, it's behavior that matters.
