Does anyone have the factory lowering springs option on an LT1? Would you recommend?
Ordering an LT1. Debating on if I should get the factory option for lowering springs/suspension.
Rougher ride doesn’t really concern me as much unless it’s absolutely atrocious. My daily driver for the past 4 years has been a 2008 Corvette Z06z I guess my concerns are, how much does it actually lower the car and does ground clearance become an issue (especially with a splitter installed)? I kind of like the “slightly lower” look but definitely don’t want it too low. Thanks! |

The rough ride doesn’t bother me, I daily drive a C6Z06 and in my opinion that car is pretty comfortable and reasonably soft |

Be cautious with the GM lowering kit, I purchased the kit myself and the rear shocks DO NOT FIT. The upper and and lower mounting points are not correct. I've been going back and forth with chevyparts for about a month now fixing the issue. (UPDATE the parts department just called and are sending the correct shocks to me)
My opinion, the GM lowering kit springs are for sure harder springs, would be stars on a racetrack / roadcourse. You can feel the steering is even heavier because of the harder springs. Handles great, a bit much for constant bumpy roads. For sure get great traction because of the harder springs, and i measured 28" from the ground to the top top of the wheel well front and rear. I went with H&R lowering springs which give the front measurement 27 1/2" and rear is 27 5/8". The front stance is much more aggressive and the springs are not as firm so little easier ride around Houston Tx where I daily mine. I'm planning on using the lowering struts / shocks still with these springs to provide better damping than OEM. I have pics if you care to see the difference between GM lowering and H&R Last edited by WillyZ83; 03-08-2022 at 02:37 PM. |

I'm running the Phastek's on my 2022 Lt1 and I also ran them on my 16 SS. Ride is as good if not better then the stock and a nice drop with the perfect ride height and great handling. Overall drop was about 1.5 front and l.25 rear. I'm still running the stock shocks and obviously it needs an alignment because it goes negative camber quit a bit. |

I debated for a long while on the GM kit. It is very well rated. At the end of the day, I really didn't want to toss the brand new factory shocks. I went with BMR springs on the factory shocks for my 2020 LT1.
Ride quality didn't really degrade much at all. The springs were slightly more firm, but didn't upset other "non-performance friends/family" that rode in the car with me. For $200 shipped, it was kind of a no-brainer to at least try it. If I were to do it again, I would go with BMR and save the money. BK |
