Take on the new Michelin Pilit Sport All Season tires?

Hey!

I was looking up tires just out of curiosity since I live in Upstate NY. Everywhere around the forms suggests that the tires that come on the '22 ZL1 are horrible for street use and the Michelin is the way to go. Is that still the consensus?

I went on Tire Rack and noticed they now have a All Season version of that tire. Has anyone tried these or at least do you think that would be a good buy?

Here is the kicker. The Summer only tires on there are showing a wet score of 9. The All season tire is showing a lower wet score than the summer only ones. Does that seem right or am I going absolutely crazy. Shouldn't the all season tires be better in rain then the summer only tires?

Trying to figure out what I should go with, or if it's even worth my time to get different tires until these ones wear out. Only 250 miles on it so would be a long time before that happens if I go that route. Looking for everyones input.

Just to add, The car will be driven in early spring and late fall, so it will see temps in the 40ish range.

Tire options are discussed in great detail in the “Wheel and Tire” section. There is a lot of great information there:

I have them on my rs3. It's making around 600hp and I never have traction issues. I know that the zl1 is a totally different beast from the zl1 rwd, but fwiw in my experience, the tires are pretty amazing

There's not a lot of tread on the OEM ZL1 tires. If you drive the car in wet or colder weather, I'd swap out to the PS4S. They're the base tire on the C8 in the non-Z51 package, and are great all around tires. Maybe not the best track tires, but the C8s at the NCM track are running them and they will last much longer.

I have a 22 ZL1 on the way and I'm considering swapping to these tires and selling the GYs.

Thank you Jbones and danger! I just got mine and it's sitting in the garage but thinking of doing the same thing in getting these or the PS4S and selling the OEM ones. I "most" likely won't see any actual track time, just maybe a few good highway pulls, but I think that's the way to go. Will definitely be driving in wet and cold weather. Good ole New York lol.

I would just use the Good Years till they wear out. Just drive slower on wet roads. They’re not that bad.

Wearing out the OE tires is certainly an option. I’m hoping I can sell them as long as shipping isn’t cost prohibitive. I guess it depends on if it’s a daily driver or not

Upstate ny here also, switched out oem to psas as soon as got back to ny from ohio with my car last nov, i got the run flat versions which seems many here dont recommend but with potholes i wanted a little security knowing i could get somewhere to fix if got flat. I noticed they rode better than the oem right from the beginning and quieter, but do not have much milage on the zl1. I mainly got them for the temperatures in the spring and the fall piece of mind if cold but nice morning can drive the car. Tires are semi new probably rating lower due to lack of reviews.

Ahhhhh thanks from a fellow upstater!

I know you mentioned you didn't have many miles but did any of those miles consist of wet roads? I know these stock tires SUCK in the cold. I drove it home from PA to NY in the middle of December (Temp that day I believe was around 30ish). If I even touched the pedal a little more than I should have, the tires held 0 traction.

The crazy part is, when I checked the temps of the tires after driving down from PA, and to the store Parking lot, they were still cold! Couldn't believe it. lol.

I had run flats on my '19 1SS (run flat stock tires) and didn't think they were to bad. I agree that with the potholes in NY, that may be a smarter option just sucks they are so expensive compared to non run flat.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

If you're not driving in winter conditions, the MPS4S is your tire

No wet experience at all, have the ps4s for summer tires on both of my ss sedans and they are a great summer tire for sure so i have no doubts the psas will be just a good for a all season (3 season for me) and factory option on new C8. i just wanted no worries when mid 20’s early November driving with cracking summer tires on the ZL1, have dedicated winter setup for wife’s ss sedan and mine is a garage queen so barely even comes out in the summer. I am 30 min south of albany for weather reference.

Got mine from discount tire online when they had a sale but discount tire bought tire rack a while ago so prices will be the same

Ps4s are sticky like a summer tire should be but my road is oil stone and my 2200 foot driveway is also stone so another reason for the all seasons stones stick and fling up even when driving slow. When the ps4s wear out will be switching the one ss sedan over to the a/s also.
