The wait is killing me...........
So I have already worked with the dealer and gone through the build process which has been submitted. It hasn't been accepted as of yet and I'm getting that itch. There's a dealership here in Raleigh that has a 2018 1SS 1LE package 6 speed manual shadow grey with 21k on it that basically fits my liking very much. It keep popping up in my email showing its still for sale on the lot.
I want to wait to get a 2022 2SS (which is what I built) since I've never done a new car for myself before but man I want to get my hands on 1 now. How did you guys deal with the waiting process and what would you do if you were in my shoes? I got the jones really bad.............. |

Drinking helps...
More importantly - knowing you're getting exactly what you want and that it hasn't been thrashed around like a rental car and/or tuned and modified by someone who doesn't know what they're doing is excellent peace of mind. If you have another car to drive now, be patient and it will all be worth it. I'm going to pick mine up tomorrow, but it's not my first ordered car. More than once I looked at it and took some measure of pride that if it wasn't for me, that car would not exist in that configuration, and I know I would have enjoyed it less if I had settled for something else.

The 2018 is NOT "Shadow Gray Metallic" it is "Nightfall Gray Metallic", Shadow Gray (which wasn't introduced until 2019) has a lot of blue in it (which I love), Nightfall Grey has no blue whatsoever (which is also a great color)... 2018 vs a 2022, to me, that is a no brainer, wait for the 2022... Shadow Gray Metallic...

The wait is totally worth it, almost a week later and I still have that new Camaro smell in my garage...

Almost a week later? Heck, my car had the new car smell for over 2 years, and the garage for months

I just placed an order for one today at my local dealer, and 2 of the items on my build sheet are on constraint (the 2SS package and the Performance Data Recorder), so I'm fully expecting it to be a long wait.
I don't mind though, as I don't want to get the car before, say, mid-April at the earliest, as it would just be sitting in my garage for the winter, like my current MX-5. Also, I've done factory orders on my of my cars over the last several years, so I'm used to the wait. I figure this will give me time to keep paying down on the Mazda (and I'm already in a really good position on it financially, with about $11k - $12k of positive equity), and then put it up for sale around March or so of next year, when it should be worth even more than now considering that we'll be heading into the prime convertible months. |

As everyone has said, just take a deep breath and wait it out. I’m in your boat with my ZLE 1LE and I know I won’t see it until April or later and I’ve accepted that fact. Winter is coming so it makes things easier for me even here in Texas. Don’t settle for a second option … you’ll get divorced.

There is nothing better than getting in your new car and seeing 3 miles on the odometer! It is WELL worth whatever the wait is...

As others have said, mentally prepare yourself to wait 4-5 months. That way your expectations are so low, you won't be disappointed if it doesn't come early.
I've been waiting since March 2021 for a 2SS and currently driving a Toyota Corolla and its killing me that I'm not driving it/I could buy something off a lot. However, the wait for the custom order will be worth it for the car that you will drive for 4+ years. So think about short term pain for long term gain. |

Beautiful car........... and thanks for the correction on the paint. The first dealership I went do the guy only answered 3 of the 20 questions I asked. Didn't stay there long and placed the order at another dealership over the phone. Can't wait to make that drive home shoudl eb well worth it. |

I sold my 1981 Z28 the other day because I really wanted a new Camaro and having that one was holding me back. As long as I had it I wouldn't pull the trigger so no excuse now. |

I can relate. Hit up pals app.com every day, bugging salesman every week. I’ve got the vin memorized— it’s that bad. Delivery 11/5, then 11/11, still waiting...looked at a used ZL1 at the Porsche dealer, nah, going to wait it out. Still want SS1LE in Vivid. Even my brother got a ‘21 Type R, his friend just got a ‘22 LT1. The universe can be cruel, but saving the best for last.(that’s what I keep telling myself).
