Surprises Under The Seats from Previous Owner

So I did the increased seat recline mod yesterday to both the drivers and passengers seats yesterday in my new-to-me 2017 2SS.

Found a few "surprises" under the passenger seat:

Whole entire eating fork.
Several M&M's that had turned to powder over time.
A few coins in the front slots where the front of the seat keys into the floor.
Several coffee stains on the carpet that dripped down the side from the center console.

As a bonus, I also found some dried gum under the corner of back seat where the previous owner's kids/grand kids left it. Thanks!

Everything is nice and clean now. Hope, there are no other surprises anywhere.

Found any surprises in your Camaro from a previous owner?

Nope my used ZL1 was detailed and cleaned before it was sold even though the original owner had put only 422 miles on it before selling back to the dealer he bought it from.

It's one of the reason why I buy new. If all that was under the seat, imagine what's been on the seat, and through the seat and everywhere else LOL.

People are skeevy. I only buy new cars. Half the world doesn't even wash their hands after using the bathroom. Think about that.

I remember back in the day when my dad bought a slightly used pickup of the local car lot and after getting it home and cleaning the interior, he found a cloth bag full of old silver liberty dollars and other collectible coins.

Of course, he did the right thing and found out who the previous owner was and arranged the return the collection.

No surprises from previous owners because I always buy new, but was very surprised last year when I picked up the car after an oil change and found a roach or butt under the driver's seat. I tracked down the mechanic and asked him for one.

I have no issue buying used. You save a ton of cash 90% of the time. Anything major is listed on a VIN report, so you can avoid that. Sure you don't want to just buy the first used one you see. Do your homework. I'm glad there are guys that will buy nothing but new, because then after you pay all the depreciation you can sell it to me for 1/2 the price. I'm good with that. I got my used 2SS for a steal. If I would have bought a new one last year when I bought my used one, I would have had to easily spend another $30k. Sure I don't have the A10 Trans, but there hasn't been anything wrong with my A8 either. To each his own...

To answer your question directly OP, nope... previous owner of my used SS took immaculate care of it. It was spotless.

My favorite thing to find is a very dried up french fry. And taco bell sauce packets.

I bought my Camaro new, so there have been no surprises except for the ones I've left behind myself. However, back in the early 2000's when i bought my '72 GTO i took the interior apart only to find a dozen or so really old unopened condoms wedged under the rear seat - they had to have been from the early 90's or possibly even the 80's. When I replaced my stereo on my viper, i found a brittany spears cd sitting on top of the stereo under the dash - the guy i bought it from was a single guy in his 20's.

Bought it new so nothing was there but I never found anything weird in the used cars I bought, they were always pretty clean. But I do inspect every corner of it before buying and would have requested a throughout clean-up before buying it.

Most large dealers will detail a car before selling it. It's not the greatest detail, but they seem to get the interiors looking pretty clean. If you're really concerned about it, you can pay a few hundred to get the car professionally detailed.

The vehicle I bought was a Chevy Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. Car was quite clean as far as the areas you could see.

The powdered M&M's had made their way to the slit in the carpet directly under the seat and migrated to under the carpet. The fork was also under the carpet in the same area.

I like buying new but you can get great bargains used. Just never know what you may find.

Left behind...

There was a late 60's Mopar that was being restored where the original owner had lived with the fact that one of the rear quarter windows would not roll down completely. A half full bottle of Canadian Club was embedded behind the interior panel that was left there by a line worker who must have stashed it before a supervisor arrived. So even new cars have artifacts and stories to tell.

But unlike most people who eat up the depreciation quickly, I keep my cars for 10+ years and over 200,000 miles. At that point most people have already bought 2 new cars.

I may never sell the Camaro.
