Did something stupid

I thought it would be great idea today to change one of the cables on my lift today. Also thought since it was raining it would way easier to just leave my car on the lift. So after changing the cable and putting the two front emergency release rollers on the wrong side of the cable and not realizing it I almost flipped my car off the lift. I wasn't able to release the front locks and the backs wouldn't lock and not to mention it also has a slow hydraulic leak in the pump so i was pretty screwed. Not a big deal when the locks work. Its crazy how fast the lift leans over with just a little counter balance. So after an hour of trying to figure out what I did I was able to unbolt the emergency rollers and they just flew off under crazy pressure and flipped them to the other side. Cars safe on the ground and I guess Ill listen to my wife next time when she says thats probably not a good idea.

I am glad that your okay! A little rain beats your car ending up shiny side down or worse. I think it's best if you just let me have that lift to prevent any future possibilty of injuries or damage to your vehicle!

Thanks, honestly don't know what I was thinking. My wife asked me to leave the car on the ground for a month. LOL

Pauly, holy crap dude.

I have a backyard buddy, and when my Byronic ram was leaking I paid to have someone replace it. They would not work on it with a vehicle on it. The BB lift has a 1’ long collar that slides up and down the post so tipping is not possible. (Picture below)

Really glad to hear you got her down safely.

Thanks, the safety systems in them are pretty good until you have someone like me who forces it not to work. Crazy looking at it closer this morning I very happy I was able to get it down.

have you checked your posts to see if they are plumb on 2 sides of each post? in the picture the post at the passenger rear looks like its not plumb but it could be the angle of the pic

Honestly I almost did. I thought I was going to watch my dream car fall to the ground and destroy my garage at the same time. Made me think what can be done as an emergency plan if something happen again. First part of the plan is to have someone that knows how to work on them do future work. I already bought a new pump for it and thinking maybe just have it inspected and the pump installed at the same time.

My compliments on the "garage" if you could call it that.
Looks more like a living room with a car inside.
Glad you and your car are ok. Hard lesson learned.
