End of Camaro and Corvette in Europe
I don't know where to include this unpleasant reality, so I'll give it here ...

Sooner we leave the EU the better, it might help it might not, but they f**k us over at every turn.

One worrying issue is this will reduce the total number of Camaros sold. With reduced units sold there is a greater risk of the model being dropped.
For those who will say it can't happen remember 2002.

I would be a little worried except the pony car war is alive and well here in the home land. GM would be stupid to pull out of that market, especially with the next gen Vette being mid engine, I’ve read a lot that the next Camaro will cross over to more of the traditional Vette territory, its all speculative now I know.

The EU's emission standards are even tighter than Kalifornia's "Hammer and Sickle" Regulations. For instance, Harley Davidson discontinued the V-Rod after the 2017 MY, partly because the Revolution had been maxed out in terms of meeting Europe's emission standards. The bike is Uber popular over there, but H-D couldn't make the bike compliant with their "Boot on the Throat" regulations. It's demise was inevitable.
~75 years ago, there was an infamous man that put his boot on Europe's throat and even attempted to place his boot across the throat of Planet Earth. Luckily he was defeated. Regulations, regulations and more regulations. Who in their right state of mind would vote for these miscreants? Cuckoo...

From the article -
Most recently, these are mainly emission rules, which cut the driver's interest in interesting cars and fans are on the thorns, if the car company pays off which model to return the offer with a modified engine. Mostly, the more interesting a car for a capable purist driver, the less people they buy - even because such cars tend to be expensive. We have the same case today and it concerns two cars from behind a large puddle - the Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro. According to Motoring Research, these will be available as new until August 31 of this year as they do not comply with the emission regulations that will enter into force on September 1st. I'm pretty sure the original said "from across the pond". Gotta love software generated translations... always good for a chuckle or two. |

Living across the pond as it were this is yet another nail in the coffin of fun.
Wagons, Taxi's and Buses for instance all churn out a horrific amount of pollution but there seems to be little done about that, so lets get the car driver instead, a much easier target. It seems individuals will still be able to fly over, buy a Camaro\Corvette and will be ok importing one, but any sort of legitimate dealer\trader wont be able to. A lot of this often stems from the bureaucrats in the EU who churn out no end of regulations to do with anything and everything. |

Yup - total agreement. As a Brit I'd rather they towed our island a few thousand miles westwards and we became the 51st state!

As long as they keep their commie regulations across the big pond, I will continue to just laugh at them. It's when the garbage regulations start coming over here and people say "well Europe does it" and expects me to think it's the greatest thing ever that I have a problem with it. Sad that fun cars like that are being kept out in the name of "saving" the planet. What's next? Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti? I'd like to know how cars like that pass the EU standards.
