Diff Rumble. UK owner needs advice please

I wonder if you guys could help me out with some advice on a possible rear diff problem.

I have a 2017 automatic UK spec Camaro with factory warranty here in the UK. This is the SS equivalent but we can’t use those badges in Europe. There are only a few UK owners so whilst we are aware of this issue, we don’t have the knowledge that you have on this forum.

My car exhibits a rumbling/vibration noise when cruising at between 60 and 80 mph when on a neutral or very light throttle. It the throttle is applied is goes away whilst the engine is under load. The rumble lasts for about a second, all goes quiet for about a second and then it comes back. This continues for up to 10 times before it goes away. It rarely manifests itself until about 15 miles into a journey and sometime it doesn’t happen at all.

The one thing which is puzzling me is that when the rumble occurs, the rev counter increases by about 100/150 rpm and then drops back. I need to check if it does it in V4 or V8 mode but I think it is both. I am wondering whether:

- it is the fluctuation in the engine speed which causes the rumble?

- or does the rear diff malfunction cause the revs to rise?

Anyway, any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you very much, gentlemen.

this is not your dif.

it's from your torque converter. there are a few threads about it, but you can start in that one.

just out of curiosity, what is the build date on your car?

See also the response to the issue from Al Oppenheiser in this thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=527133. Actually, the entire Ask Al section is worth a good read, there are several other answers to various questions from the chief engineer.

yes, even though his answer is, to me, bullshit. mainly because he blames the fluid for the issues on any car built up until march of 17 (the reason I asked).

however, mine was built in may of 2017, so not only should I have not had the problem, I've had the problem twice, and am in the process of taking it back for a 3rd time.

Thanks for the link. The last 6 digits of the VIN are 131379.

Yeah, not disagreeing with any of this, just wanted to help the OP with additional info. My earlier V6 didn't and now this V8 doesn't yet exhibit the issue, but it's way too early to call.

yes, I just wanted to clarify that there is a strong possibility that the answer al gave, is not the solution to a problem quite a few individuals face.
