REPLACEMENT RIMS FOR SS
Hi all, looking for input from a tire/wheel professional that can assist with a concern. I am in the process of ordering new aftermarket rims and will be mounting the original tires. The rims I am interested in are supposed to be direct replacement however the width and offset vary from the original. I am most concerned with rubbing and harness contact and hoping you can help. The replacement rims are as follows: front, 20x8.5 with +35 offset, and the rear I have a choice between 20x9.5 with either a +35 or +45 offset, or 20x11 with a +45 offset. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi local forum member.
![]() The 20x8.5 will sit in 10mm more. It will look weird. You could throw on a 5mm spacer to help. But the wheels are tucked in far enough stock. The 20x9.5 35mm is pretty close to stock. 4mm less , placing them slightly in. The 20x11 should be 38mm to 43mm. So there is a good risk of rubbing in the back. Again, a small spacer can take care of that. What are you looking at? Maybe there is a similar wheel that comes with correct sizing?

Agreed with Bradford on the front wheels.
The factory offset for the rear wheels is +39 mm so the 9.5" wheel with +35mm would sit out about 1/4" wider than factory. That shouldn't be a problem. The 11" wheel is wider than the factory rear Goodyear tire. Mounting it on an 11" wide wheel will look stretched. If you're not planning to buy wider tires then it will look better on the 9.5" wheel IMHO. |

I don't know the specific offset but the rear SS wheels will not fit in the front without a 10 mm spacer and longer studs. I put the same 9.5 x 20 all the way around so I can verify this.
If you do try to use the same size rim make sure either the offset is different from front to back or you put a spacer on so the wheel clears the strut. |

Will a 5mm spacer require a longer stud? I will be keeping the same 8.5" width but the offset is 35, vs the 25 original...

Nop. With 5mm spacer you can use the OEM studs and nuts. As from 15mm you need longer studs which are coming with the spacer.
