Not exactly happy with Body Shop spoiler install. What would you do?
I had a stock SS spoiler installed on my 1LT V6 by a body shop and instead of using the Trunks pre-fabbed holes in the frame for access holes, they drilled their own and it looks horrible when you open the trunk.
The install on the deck looks okay and it doesn't leak but those holes bother me. What would you do? Of course the only way to fix it is to replace the trunk and have the spoiler reinstalled properly and that likely means taking them to court and proving the installation was incorrect. Other issue is the spoiler didn't come with a template... But I don't think any of them do. |

It looks apparent that they messed up. I would take it back and compensate you somehow. Your right it looks bad.

Did you point this out when you picked it up? How much did it cost for install.

wow I wouldnt have accepted that. Did you guys talk about the install before it was done? Should have figured out details on how its going to be installed before irreversible holes were drilled. You can try to find some bigger plastic button caps that might cover it.

If it looks right from the outside I would’nt go crazy, based upon what the underside of the trunk looks like. But that’s just me. I don’t do shows or have anybody look at my car. I would cover those areas with some matching vinyl and call it a day. But the question does come up, did you talk to them before as to how they were going to do it? It should find all the holes directly through the holes are already there.

I know I installed a factory spoiler on my wifes imapala, and it came with a very detailed template for the install. Looking at what you have now, I cant think of any way they could fix the holes easily. So either locate larger plastic hole plugs, to cosmetically cover the issue or just live with it.

It totally sucks and is about typical of the craftsmanship that I’ve been finding recently. Having said that , I probably wouldn’t let the hacks touch it anymore I would get some black rubber or plastic washers and just put them underneath those black plastic clips to hide the hogged out holes.

They totally fu**** it up. Even if they don’t have a template they call them self a body shop.

yeah that looks pretty bad, i'd be nervous washing the car i mean when i'm drying the car down i lift the trunk to dry the water that when through the cracks, so i'm pretty sure water will drip down those holes!! I wouldn't of taken the car like that.

I’m way to picky, I wouldn’t be happy with that at all! The installer would have to figure something out.

I would have bought an LT1 and you would have already had one, then only you could have screwed it up.

Well not much you can do now. I'd just make the holes bigger and put some larger plugs in there.

Not trying to get you more aggravated, but really? A retarded monkey could do a better job than that. If was me, I would have charged the work on my cedit card. If you charged it, I’d go back to the body shop with a copy of the install instructions, which I’m pretty sure will show the finish plugs completely covering the holes. I’d ask them to make it look the way the instructions show, if not, you want your $$ back. They won’t fix it because it will cost more than what you paid and they will probably not give you any $$ back. If that happens, contest the butchers charge with your CC company and post negative reviews on facebook etc. I’d post pictures of their crappy work to warn others...
