1LE Wheel Imperfection

Hey guys, I was cleaning my new 1LE's wheels today and saw something that gave me pause. What looks like a bump or a boil in the finish that probably only I would notice but still bothers me quite a bit.

I want to hear what everyone thinks of this.

Bad surface prep before paint, take it in for warranty, now, don’t wait.

Wonder if it's oxidation of the aluminum causing the pimples.

Thanks for the replies, I was worried about what has been mentioned as well.

Those of you who had to deal with this; how long did it take for them to handle it? I've never had to make a warranty claim on any of the cars I've owned to be perfectly honest.

Good dealers are on “self authorization” for warranty, meaning they can make the decision on the spot, no calling. So if the wheel is in stock it should be 3-5 days of Shipping.

In my case they were ok with fixing it(actual chips) by powdercoating but would absolutely not replace

Took 2.5 days for them to get it fixed

Found some like that on my 18 zl1 wheels too. Guess QA/QC not important anymore.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a pretty minor blemish. I'd probably be pretty disappointed too though, so I know where you're coming from.

I'd politely ask for a wheel replacement under warranty, but at the same time be understanding if they couldn't do it.

If free replacement were not an option I'd probably sell that wheel and buy a new one. I'm sure there are plenty of guys with curb rash that would gladly buy this wheel from you. (I have little faith in dealer repair work, so I'd eat the cost of a new one before having a repaired wheel.)

Agree with Travis, I wouldn’t want a repaired wheel for such a small blemish

I'd probably call GM warranty directly first. I had something similar with a nissan a long time ago, started at the dealer then had to go to nissan directly, then it got done. I really dont know why dealers try to make it difficult. One other direction (possibly) depending on your insurance you could make a claim, this would be my personal last resort, because of the car history implications.

I have a spot where the paint dripped on my rear wheel, I see this is common.
