Awesome AutoX YouTube vid of SS 1LE's

Phoenix_Gilmore put together this really cool video from our final AutoX of the Season. My car and FNxR3DNECK's SS 1LE were in it and Egon was a co driver in the blue 1LE.

Definitely! Its hard to see the speed and intensity of AutoX through video, but some of his external gopro shots give a good idea of how fast it is. Anyone who runs AutoX will tell you videos never do it justice. It looks slow and boring until you do it yourself or go for a ride with a fast driver.

How do your tires hold up throughout the year? Are there cheaper alternatives to stock that provide similar performance?

Honestly the GY Supercar 3's are the perfect balance of performance and wear for me. I ran AutoX almost every month and still got to 11K miles before I needed new tires. The Bridgestone RE-71 R's are the king of the hill for AutoX tire and I would guess you get about 75% the tread life. I do strongly recommend getting the Track Spec Alignment according to your HP supplement. -2 camber front -1.5 camber rear

AutoX is a great budget friendly option to track days and is much less wear an tear on a car. I would always recommend you start with AutoX before you move on to track days, not just for cost reasons, but you will be much improved as a driver when you learn the limits in lower speed controlled environments. Often time worst case scenario is you get some cone scuff marks that are easily cleaned off. The stakes are much higher when speeds go up on big tracks with very little run off area.

I see you are in the Charlotte area. You definitely need to come out and introduce yourself next year. Its a very welcoming and well run SCCA region. It's also one of the largest AutoX venues in the country and we have some of the best courses! I would be happy to teach you everything I learned in my first year. Egon was awesome at helping me along with his 5th gen 1LE experience and the Novice instructors are top notch.

I wish you were close. I'd swap with you for an event. Love to feel a properly prepped F-Street car. As you can see my driving is far from perfect. I think I'm about a full second off the cars capability with a pro driver.

I was thinking of heading down to Bristol for the 2018 tour event but.. its 12 hours away for me lol. I can do 8 no problem for spring nats and fall nats... but 12 might be a bit much!

Thanks for the info. Egon did post a date or two in the regional section. I was going to attend and watch, though getting me to compete wouldn't require much. I don't know too much so I welcome any input you can give me. I'll look out for the next date in March.

Definitely come out and shoot me a PM on here so we can coordinate meeting up. It's very easy to get started. But I'll walk you through it when the time comes.
