Upper/Lower Trailing Arms

Just wanted to pick everyone's brain on upper/lower trailing arms, are they beneficial for road course/auto cross or mainly for drag strip? I ordered a upper control arms and toe rods to increase my alignment capabilities but I'm not sure if the trailing arms will make that big of a difference. I only do track/auto x.

Thanks,

If your OEMs are deflecting while cornering, they'll change your suspension geometry and alter your car's control and ability to handle. So, in that case, yes, they would be beneficial. Some also allow for less weight or firmer settings (in addition to stronger mount points for some pieces)

You're welcome..

Though, personally, I'd reach out to any of the proven suspension reps around here for details if you're looking for solid numbers and parts specifically.

I had uppers, lowers, rods, bushings, sways, coilovers, end links, solid cradle mounts, etc. etc. on my Gen5 and while it handled exceptionally well, I went over board and ended up hating the car.

Yeah I'm trying to keep the MOD bug in check and not go too crazy. At this point I only have lowering springs, camber plates, upper control arms and toe rods. I'd like to say after sway bars and trailing arms I'll be done with suspension work.

Our adjustable Upper and lower trailing arms will definitely help with rear suspension control during auto x and road race events. The non adjustable with poly arms work great on cars that see more street than race use and the adjustable arms with rod ends will work fine on a street/race car, just keep in mind these will increase NVH due to the rod end attachment to the rear cradle. Plus the adjustable will allow for more alignment adjustment if the car is lowered. Let me know if you need any further info.

Thank you for the feedback I appreciate it. I actually ordered everything last week and in the process of installing toe rods, upper control arms, upper/lower trailing arms, F/R sway bars and end links. This car isn't my daily driver so I'm not concerned about the NVH.

I've had mine in since last November. November of 2016. I can't stress enough about how much more solid the rear feels planted whether you take it to the drag track or the Auto X courses.

Suspension along with the sway bars these are the only mods that I've made to the suspension so far. The first and main thing you will notice is the reduction and the deflection of the rubber bushings that were in their stock. Also when you remove the stock arms you'll really see how light and thin that they actually are. It's amazing the technology GM put into it. However the added weight and stiffness of the bars will usually allow you to push the car just a little bit harder.

The main goal for me this winter is to add the rear cradle lockout. This is something that GM more or less completed with the 1LE versions and the new rear cradle bushings that it uses.

Currently I have the upper and lower trailing arms the upper control arm and still need to get the rear toe rods and the rear cradle lockout. I also have the rear cradle brace that goes from the main part of the chassis to the rear cradle and I need to get the one part that goes on the very back in of the cradle closest to the rear bumper.

Did you get the adjustables or non?

I was wondering could we do easier camber changes with the upper control arms?

What was it about your car and what would you do differently? The last thing
I need is to hate my car.

Thanks,

Glad to hear I can't wait to get back on the track after I finish the install. Keep me updated on how you like the cradle lock out and I'm interested in the different chassis braces also but not sure if I want to add the extra weight. Are you happy with the chassis braces so far?

Make sure when you order the toe rods you call to ensure they send the correct bolts. I had the same issue as another guy on here my bolts were too short and I had to call in to get them sent.

I got adjustable for everything. I might not need to make a lot of adjustments at this time but wanted to have the option for future changes.

With the upper control arms you should be able to get more negative camber and it seems pretty easy to adjust.

Are the BMR sway bars higher rate than the stock 1LE bars? I haven't seen that information posted anywhere.

yeah the rates are a lot higher if you get the adjustable. The rates aren't listed but if you watch the video the guy gives the different rates.

Stock rates (1LE): Front 397lbs / Rear 169 lbs

BMR: Front 596/702/840 lbs
Rear 300/342/395 lbs
