T93 unlock improvements

How come so little chatter or results on the T93 unlock service from HP tuners and the availability of a new unlocked T93 TCM.

Maybe because HHP's been out for almost a couple years now.

So what are you saying, no one has had HP tuners unlock there T93 TCM so they can now tune the trans, or bought a new unlocked T93 TCM and installed it and had it tuned? I know Laynlo did it, but he never revealed any detailed tuning that was done and what and how it all helped. He did indicate he was satisfied. The HHP was a T87 TCM I believe.

Probably because, for years, HPTuners SAID THEY WOULD NEVER SUPPORT THE T93, so many, like me, jumped ship to the T87.

Why would he reveal anything? What compels him too?

That is correct. Functionally - they are now the same.

I would assume many of us would like some common betterment if you will regarding what can be adjusted or tuned. Full throttle opening for one in the lower gears when WOT is demanded, less timing retard at each WOT shift and to be able to set each WOT throttle shift at redline or very close to it. Can this be done? If I make the effort with a new unlocked T93 and have it tuned to do the above, I would share that info big time, regarding daily driveability, WOT redline shifts etc and 1/4 mile performance gains.

To the best of my knowledge, I’m not seeing any dramatic tuning differences between the HHP modified T87A and the new T93 unless there’s something I’ve missed lately. Maybe King can chime in if he’s seen something. But I just don’t think there’s any ground breaking differences between those 2 options, so not a lot to talk about.

TLDR: if you’re trying to overcome torque management you’ll need to tune the TCM and if the T93 that comes with your car can be unlocked, it seems like the way to go. Don’t blame anyone who went the HHP route since that was the only way to go for a good while. It got the job done.

The T93 can now be tuned via HPT as needed and for less $$$ and complexity than the T87A swap.

Like others have said, HHP had the T87A swap since around March 2021 I believe.

HPTuners was dead set on announcing no T93 services ever.

Majority of users already did HHP swap, I’d say HPTuners service would be the same as their T87A service

I believe the only "special" think you have to do for the T87a-swap, is disable a single MIL i the ECM, and that's it. That - and making sure the plug is oriented correctly.

I got my T93 unlocked and have played with it little. I drive my car very little, so haven't had a chance to make any more adjustments since the last time I drove my car a couple weeks ago. I have never tuned or seen the tuning capability of the T87A so I am of little help there. There seems to be plenty of adjustment for the T93, though.

Mine is unlocked now and happy with the outcome. We are not trying to destroy the trans with big numbers as we could. Mine did pick up from 9.86 to 9.80 on 11 psi of boost. I would have picked up more but we spun the tires on a track that was drug after they sprayed it because their tractor with PTO had a broken weld and wasn't operational. I think we could have run 9.75 if the proper track prep had of been done. We could unlock some more torque management but then we might induce trans slip just to do that and its not worth it to me. The main thing is we now have control of the trans so that did allow us to make improvements in our tune. Now were are in the beginning of the summer months with the days heating up so maybe in the fall we'll go after it harder. Now our biggest improvement came from the 98 mm pulley where with the trans locked our quickest time was 10.001, on the same weekend we ran 9.80 on 11 psi we ran 9.89 on 9.2 lbs of boost on the same tune as the 9.80, no changes except swapping the pulley, it does run about 1 mph slower on that pulley at 141 where we ran 142.96 on the 11 psi pulley. You can go faster unlocked but you just have to be careful on how much torque management you pull out of the tune to be safe.
