I would assume that to be the crank position sensor . And the one next to it to be the cam position sensor. Not sure what the next one over is however . UT the placement of the arrow marker would seem right you can see how it drops down to where there should be a marker ring on the end of the crank behind the seal .

A crank sensor is an electronic device used in an internal combustion engine, both petrol and diesel, to monitor the position or rotational speed of the crankshaft. This information is used by engine management systems to control the fuel injection or the ignition system timing and other engine parameters.

That is NOT the crankshaft or even the camshaft position sensor. Crankshaft position sensor is near the back of the block, passenger side in the side of the block.

The item circled above, according to the parts catalog, is called the oil pump flow control valve wire. looking at the schematics and the connector end, its the Q44 oil flow control solenoid valve.

As to what it does specifically, from looking at the breakdown, that bit you circled appears to be a dedicated cam position sensor for the oil control valve which is located in the oil pump. The weird thing is, I can't see any replacement procedure for that specific part. Catalog calls it oil pump flow control valve wire, but the service manual shows the valve in the oil pump, and nothing about that other part.

The actual cam position sensor is the sensor to the right of the cam position actuator magnet (center 3 bolt bit with the red lock on it).
