Rear Camber allignment

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere before, but I need to figure this out. I want to get rid of the negative camber on the back of my 2SS. I want the tire to sit flatter on the ground. My car is at the dealership getting the groan in the rear end fixed and I asked them if the camber can be removed. When they called this morning they can align the car to get rid of most of the camber, but parts and labor would be around $280 plus tax. They said it would be a three hour alignment process. Does this seem right? Also, what parts are needed?

Can I buy the parts (if there are any) somewhere else?
Can I go anywhere and have the alignment done?
I've had many cars aligned after installing springs and various components and have never been quoted that high for an alignment.

The rear alignment bolts are technically torque-to-yield, so that would be the "parts". The adjustments are normal eccentrics, nothing exotic or difficult. Frankly why they're TTY on a location that needs multiple adjustments seems irrational.

You're probably getting the classic dealership screw on pricing. An alignment should take about 1 hour, certainly not 3, so push back on the labor overcharge.

Of course you're free to take the car anywhere you like for an alignment. I had my last one done at a good raceshop that had no issues with me dictating the alignment as I saw fit.

I have to ask though, why do you think you need to take camber out of the rear? What's it at now, and does your tire wear corroborate an adjustment?

My tires are wearing more on the inside of both tires than the rest of the tire. From what I've seen, from people that post pictures of their tires on these cars, seems pretty normal. I don't like it. I've seen the explanation that it helps with cornering and I understand that. I don't autocross and don't plan to. Am I going at this the wrong way? I want to use the whole surface area of the tire.

That sounds correct. You need a street-only alignment that has less camber.

I would agree that 3 hours for the alignment seems high. I am guessing your car is lowered. We offer 2 different upper control arms that are adjustable. The UTCA062($179.95 for a pair) is a single adjustable arm that will allow camber adjustment, but requires removing it for adjustment. The UTCA063($229.95 for a pair) is a double adjustable or on car adjustable. Either of these will allow camber adjustment. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I called them back and said something. After talking with the tech they agreed to do it for the regular price of an alignment. Just over $100. The car is stock ride height for now.

10-4 on the stock ride height, either of our adjustable arms will work on your car at stock ride height and then if you decide to lower it in the future you will be ready with the adjustable arms.

I will be buying everything you have to offer in the very near future especially for the rear of the car. Once the procharger goes on I'm going to need to upgrade so the car will launch. I will need to get this car aligned again after that, but for now I want to make the stock tires last as long as I can.
