We've been over this...wheels clickin again!!
Hey guys,
Hope all are well. I come to you again with the a known issue which I and many have dealt with here, however mine keeps coming back. My front wheels go 'click click click' ONLY while turning and the clicking gets faster/slower depending on speed. Yes I know there was a GM bulletin out for the Corvettes and it is the same solution here. Dismount wheels, clean the two contact surfaces (Back of the wheel which meets the hub and the face of the hub istelf) properly and mount wheels back on and torque lugs to 140lb/ft. I've had this done twice and yet the problem came back again, however this time around I didn't bother taking it back to the dealership....I just re-torqued the lugs myself and the problem was solved...however it came back...AGAIN ....any idea what the issue is and what the proper and permanent fix to this is? Look forward to your feedback... |

I believe its the free floating rotors are causing it.
did you check the wheel lug nut torque again to make sure its not loose? is this turning with / without braking or both? its really odd that the 5gen has a near identical setup yet I have never heard of any issues like this on them.

Well honestly with a ZL1 never really paid much attention to braking while cornering But yeah, I'm hearing it only without braking AND the torque has been checked. It's the bloody lug nuts that start to come off loose and the clicking noise comes. Is there a way to mke sure the lugs do not come off loose?? |

A permanent (hopefully) fix was mentioned in a different thread somewhere, can't remember the original poster. After cleaning all the mating surfaces - put a light coat of anti-seize on the wheel surface that will mate with the hub. I did that a few months ago and the clicking has not re-appeared for me.

When I installed my Powerstop pads, I noticed that my wheels had a light coat of antiseize on them. I didn't remove it. Torqued to factory spec when they went bakc on. Havent had any clicking before or since.
