There's not really any real difference between the two aside from 6th gear ratio

6th Gear in the 2017 ZL1 is pretty much useless from a performance standpoint. Top speed is achieved in 5th gear. 6th gear ratio was added simply to get a lower Gas Guzzler rating. If this is a daily driver and taken on road trips, then 6th is useful. However, when looking at it from performance standpoint, 6th will never be used. I guess it is all matter of perspective and personal opinion. I'll probably never go faster than 175MPH, so .... not a huge concern for me either way.

Only 6th is changed from 0.54 to 0.68. With the shorter tires, it is like going from a 3.73 rear to a 4.79 in the regular ZL1 in 6th!

If you're going to spends thousands of dollars swapping a transmission or building it to 1le specs, why it not just use that money to make more power so you can pull in 6th?

But can't you just buy one from tremec? Do they not sell transmissions to the public?
