Yipes

Was going down I-75 South today about 75mph. Next thing I know the car in front of me swerves left and there in front of me is what looks like a aluminum 6 foot ladder laying in the road. I tried to miss it but didn't. It hit pretty hard under the car. I am thinking well I wonder how many tires are going to go flat and what's left of the front splitter. I looked out my back window and saw it flying into the middle lane and people swerving to avoid hitting it. The car felt ok but I checked tire pressure readings and all was well there. Steered left and right like Nascar to see if that felt ok and it did. Got home a few minutes later and walked around car and there was to my complete surprise no damage. The only thing I could see was grayish hash marks on the side walls of the tires. Talk about a lucky break! Guess these cars are built pretty tough or maybe I was extremely lucky. Look out for ladders in the road

That is one of the reasons I try to leave plenty of room between myself and the vehicle ahead of me.

Glad you didn't sustain any damage and that an accident wasn't caused.

That is a miracle, God Bless. It could have turned out much worse than that. I never understood how drivers with cargo never think to double check if things are secured properly.

Wow, that's unbelievable. Get it up on a lift and check things out if you can. Would be a miracle for a ladder to pass under the car and not sustain some scratching/denting at minimum.

I agree. I have looked under the car and I see nothing screwed up. It's almost time for 1500 mile oil change so then we will inspect it really good. It is almost unbelievable that no damage occurred. I did feel it hit under the car. Maybe the speed helped limit the damage. Maybe it just looked like a ladder but was something else like maybe a easel or lattice that would not be as thick and beefy. All I know is the Big Guy was watching over me today

+1
There could be some hidden damage, and it could be serious. Take it to the dealer and ask them to lift it and inspect it. Tell them what happened - likely they will not charge much unless they find something to fix. Then, you'll have peace of mind.

Ok, took it in sooner rather than later. Has 1300 miles so I figured I would do the oil change as well. The damage underneath was minimal. The rubber air deflector had a small tear on one side (pass). There is a flat rubber piece each side of oil pan area that's held on with a couple screws that was slightly torn (pass side). These screws had a yellow looking material that I think was fiberglass stuck between rubber and washers. Must of been made out of fiberglass. Everything else was fine except the LED light pass side front bumper (the one that is missing on the 1LE) It is attached to back side of bumper with three screws that go through a bracket. All three brackets where broken off. Probably the bumper flexed on impact and broke the plastic brackets. We removed the light and epoxied the bracket back together. Bet that light assembly is expensive. Letting it dry over night and will re install it tomorrow. Should be fine. So all in all not so bad considering. Was lucky. Good karma!!!!And on another note, after the first oil change it sure does seem to have a little more grunt. I know it's probably my imagination but it seems a bunch more touchy p.s I am a 28 year Chevy dealership employee there so we had about 5 techs looking at the car. Pretty sure we didn't miss anything

Glad your ok, a very lucky break. My wife yells at me all the time when a vehicle with ladders or pallets on a pickup truck to either pass them or get completely away from them; she is scared to death of something falling or coming through the windshield. I am really surprised that you had very little damage. I would of guessed a ladder would cause significant damage to such a low sitting car, you barely have 6 inches of clearance. Amazing!
