Cutting through it all, which catch can?

I know, I know. I've used search. However, which ones are easy to empty/service, capture these unicorn or not engine oil blow by particles?

Something clean, simple, easy to service.

I'm going to open my intake before I do this, but help me plan - which one is good for a NA engine, no intention for FI or internal motor build. Just want to "potentially" avoid carbon build up. Gracias.

I've used these forever on many LS motors and a couple of LT1's now. They work GREAT

Also...

Many use this one with similar success. The kit and tubing is designed for this car. Both work, and so either would do (preferences aside)

I was turned off by elite engineerings mounting position when they first came out for these cars not to mention double the price. Not sure if it's any different now. With that said, I went with the mishimoto. I pulled the intake off my car last month and there were very small traces of oil in it from what I could see and feel, I would consider it a film if anything. I have no idea how much more effective,if any , the elite or other catch cans are. But that's my expierence with the mishimoto at the 4500 mile mark. It was on the car with 300 miles on it

I have used the Mishimoto catch can and because it is made for our cars would definetly suggest that one. So much easier with good quality hoses and connections. Makes elite catch cans from easy to 15 minute stupid easy. I just changed my oil over the weekend and got a 1/4 cup of oil. So not much but at 7500 miles that is almost 4 cups of oil or a quart poured down the intake. I have to assume as time goes on that will increase with ring wear. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Second thought: I am going to add this so I never have to unscrew the can anyways. Just stick a bottle under the pecock and drain when ever. Although you can easily just do it when you change the oil.

Only if Elite can design a "formed fitting" hose routing that can accommodate our supercharged engines .(PD) I'd be all over it.

Our Elite E2 and E2-X Catch Cans are the most effective on the market, period. Take ANY other brand mentioned and install the E2-X in series AFTER the other can starting with both oil free. Drive 1000 miles and drain both documenting what was caught. The E2-X will trap us much or more AFTER the vapors have already passed through the other can. Now clean both and reverse the order and after 1000 miles almost nothing gets past the E2-X. That simple. 1/4 turn ball valve for easy draining and the billet cleanside separator to complete the system.

It is a no brainer when looking at your GDI engine that cannot tolerate any oil and other contaminate ingestion.

Where does the E2-X mount in our cars?

I 2nd that!! Did not like the mounting on the Elite catch can. Looks like a universal mount unlike the Mishimoto setup that was made for our cars. Like the formed hoses and quick disconnects like factory. Go with Mishimoto

Are you able to unscrew the can to empty or do you have to take the whole unit down, unscrewing the mounting bolt?

I can unscrew it without unmounting, and that's also with a strut tower brace. It's clean...

So you have to push the hard plastic L shaped hose out of the way to make it fit there?

Nah, that's kind of a strange angled picture. That hose is empty (it is the "sound tube" that runs intake sound to the cabin). Many just remove it, and frankly I will too.

It does not crush from this though.

Edit: My own pictures just cost me $2k in intake and headers.... HAHA I NEEDED THAT!
