Need help picking a 2017 1SS/2SS or possibly a 2015 2SS
Currently trying to get a camaro. My price limit is about $35k, which puts me into 2SS range if they do a red tag event this year. With sales being in the gutter, that is very likely.
I need some input/help on a couple options I know the folks here are gonna be super knowledgeable. 1SS: I like leather, but I could live with cloth depending on quality. How is the quality? Is it a cloth fabric, or more of a smooth suede? 2SS: I see this car has 9 Bose speakers... I'd probably want to upgrade down the road. Is that possible? I know Bose can sometimes be a PITA to upgrade. How does the system compare to the 1SS? 2015: so I wouldn't normally consider given the upgrades done with the 2016+ models, but if I trade my vehicle in for this I would basically get a paycheck to go buy an intake, exhaust, and maybe something else. How nice are these comparatively? Is it really a $8,000 upgrade? I linked the used one I found https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...ting=165778090 Any help or input would be appreciated! |

5th gen (2015) vs 6th gen is a night a day difference. Don't waste your time on a 5g lol.

I went through this myself personally I paid a little more for the 2ss which I do not regret.
I don't think either the 1 or 2 ss is a bad choice although there is no way I would go 5th gen at this point. The 6 gen ones are just so much of a better car. As for the 1 to 2 ss man that is your call. I have enjoyed the upgrades a lot but there are a lot of 1ss folks on here that are super happy. That all being said, I really wonder on some of the things they cut out of the 1ss that I would have missed a lot. One is the garage door opener. I mean what car over 30k doesn't have this nowadays? |

I wouldn't consider a 5th gen at this point, have you considered a lightly used 2016 2SS with low miles? There are a couple of them for sale in this forum as well.
Finding a new 2SS for 35K will be a hard bargain even with the tag sale in fall. |

Dude, pony up (if you can) and get the 2SS. You will not be disappointed.
If you have to wait than wait and save more. But do not settle! I have had buyers remorse ever since I got my 2LT. You get a heck of a car with the 2SS................... Check out the other threads on this forum. The chances you will get the exact car your looking for at a red tag sale are very remote. PLUS, there are other people looking at red tag sales too. Good luck and I hope you get your Camaro!!!!!!!

There is an audio section to this forum. From what I can tell both the 1ss and Bose systems are harder to upgrade than previous generations. You are stuck either way working with speaker feeds, converting them to line level, and re-amping. There are some DSP units and other all-in-ones which combine some of the steps. You are probably looking at $1000-$2000 to do it justice, and that's doing the work yourself. I am living with Bose for now. It's not bad. You need more power to overcome the cabin and road noise though.

Go with the Gen6!! Sometimes I miss my modded 2010 2SS LS3 but what I replaced it with is so much better. Don't think you will be sorry if you go with the new gen 2SS. And go out and test drive one and you will see what all the buzz is about!

It will be only worse when the tag events begin. You might get lucky and get what you want but you might end up getting almost what you want for about the same as what you get now (IE paying for options you didn't care about like LPO wheels for 3k MSRP) Here 2016 2SS are around 36k on the lot. Not sure what you can get them down to as none of the ones I saw here were manuals. |

The 2015 is an option because it's about $10,000 less than a 2016/17. How much could I get a used/new manual 2SS 2016+ for?

Right now forget about a 2SS for $35k. If they do go on deep discount you might see what looks like $38k but dealers will take some of that back with fees and a below wholesale trade in.
GM knows what happened last year and is cutting production to avoid a repeat. A 1SS for $35k plus tax is possible, especially if it is M6.

I have a 2016 2SS with NPP and MRC that I bought from Becky for mid 30's in Sept? I think. Car is awesome but the stereo is worse than my '08 Xterra. A 2SS for 35K is def doable if Chevy does the red tags again. Also I would def NOT get the MRC again if I could find a deal on a car without. I honestly feel no difference in the suspension through any of the modes. I like the idea of the NPP( had on a vette before this) but I pulled the fuse so that's kind of a waste as well.

Unless you're really truly in love with the 5thgen's styling I wouldn't take it over the 6thgen performance and features wise.
