Car Detailing Products

Anyone done the research yet on how they are going to clean and protect the suede interior? Shifter and steering wheel specifically since they pic up oils from your hand.

I use chemical guys for exterior on my 2010SS with a 2 bucket wash including grit guards and most likely will do the same exterior. Debating Ceramic Coating for the ZL1 though based on some other threads.

It's really not suede, it's a synthetic microfiber....

cheap and very effective: diluted WOOLITE with a microfiber towel. No need to buy some expensive, extravagant stuff from a detailing site, woolite Works perfect.

Everything else on the interior: Poorboys natural look.

I cleaned the Alcantara suede on my 5th gen ZL1 with a water dampened microfiber towel and long horse hair leather cleaning brush. This combo did a nice job of rejuvenating the fibers.

1) I have a nail brush that use to life the suede up after a couple of weeks to a month of use,

2) Then I spritz the wheel and shifter with diluted rubbing alcohol...

3) I simply take a microfiber towel to it and rub the dirt/oils out. Small sections at a time. Rotate the towel to a clean side frequently.

4) Finally, I take a clean towel and lightly buff it back to life.

Let dry for 15-30 minutes...and vuala! The above methods, I'm sure will work as well. But the bottom line is you don't need to go high-dollar to keep this stuff clean. Not at all.

(For the record...I was bad...and the following images show 2+ months of uncleaned wear...)

In my truck manual it says to use some club soda on a damp cloth. Go figure.

That is amazing! One, how dirty it gets, then two, how you bring it back! Nice work. I will be using your method.

Thanks! It's just one of many successful methods.

For my own ego's sake...that was after two to three months in the summer...and I wasn't going in and out of an office building...dust, sweat, and grime were very present.

But it does work. And that shift knob took me all of 5-7 minutes to clean up from that condition. That's why I maintain suede is not difficult to keep clean. (you just have to actually keep it clean...which I did not...)

Yes, very good info that I will use myself as well. Now to get the goods on how and what to wash my car with being that when I picked up my 17 ZL1, I remember them giving me some different procedures for washing and waxing my Camaro. Or maybe I should invest in a clear front end wrap and rinse and wipe only. Something special about the paint.,
