Track alignment at pickup?

Very excited to pick up new 1le later this week. Was contemplating having dealership do the track alignment but then I wondered if if it may change during the first couple thousand miles from break in and don't want to waste the. Obey if it will need redone anyway. Appreciate any Suggestions

That's what I did. Rodgers did the 1LE track alignment during PDI. IMO it's perfectly fine for the street, but of course the tires will wear the inside shoulders quicker if you don't turn.

What do you mean "if it may change"? It's not like the suspension will drift alignment, unless nothing was torqued correctly. It takes a long time for the rubber bushings to wear out, and even then the dynamic alignment will be the problem, not static.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if the bushings could or would change during the initial break in. Kinda of like how springs break in quickly and settle then don't change much over a long period

It would actually take a long explanation to accurately break it down, but the long and short of it is; specify the track alignment IF you plan on auto-xing or tracking the car, and don't worry about the nuances you can't affect.

Of course the bushings change over time, but their center will almost always be in the same place. What changes is how strongly they return to that center. E.g. BMW front control arm bushings typically wear out in 30k miles and induce strong dynamic caster changes, making the car less predictable and ruining steering feel. The Camaro uses an inherently different design, so it's not a necessarily applicable example.

Appreciate your expertise and input. I will be autoxing and would like to track at some point so I want the car to be all it can. I'm really excited about this car!! Was so impressed with handling and balance of the 2ss I'm trading in that I can't wait to feel what this 1le is about
Hopefully I'll see you around at NWOR events. Used to go up there a lot before kids and life

You're going to love the 1LE. Dynamically it's a step up from the 2SS [w/mag-ride]. Weight transitions are quicker, body control is more tied down, the brakes and grip finally match the engine, IMO.

I've said this elsewhere but it deserves repeating. The 1LE in Touring is similar to the 2SS Mag-ride in Track mode. If that sounds like a good idea to you, then the 1LE will be perfect.

I've also become rather smitten with the PTM settings. To me the throttle feels most organic [linear] in Track mode, and going through the PTM sub-settings really lets you tailor the slip angle and assistance to your preference.

Admittedly I'm not a big Auto-x guy, but you'll see me at HPDE's frequently. Looks like next month at Gingerman w/ 3 Balls will be my first one with the 1LE and I'm really looking forward to it.
