STORY TIMEE!! Not all valets are the same

So earlier tonight we decided to go to a restaurant to celebrate our parents birthdays ( they're 2 days apart ). This area is generally very busy so parking is almost impossible, especially because a good portion of the lots are reserved for valet parking. Its very cold out tonight and between the fact that I knew I wasn't going to find easy parking and I wasn't about to have my mother walk in this cold from the other side of the lot, I decided to do valet. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't an easy decision ..I was very worried since I've heard many stories of people getting they're car damaged by valets who just dont care and also I don't let many people drive my car, especially strangers. Anyways, I left the car in this guy's hands and went inside to stuff our faces. The whole time I was in there, I had the thought in the back of my head " what if theres a big ass dent on the door already!!" but I let it go and enjoyed my dinner. Finally we got done eating and went outside to the valet guy to get our cars. I was kinda expecting the worst but when I got outside I looked to my right and there was my beautiful car with its nose sticking out from the side of the building. The guy walks up to me and says " I hope you're not mad at me but your car is too beatiful to be parked out there with the rest, I also put it in my snapchat" I had the biggest smile on my face. I thanked him and gave him a nice tip. He seemed really grateful, I was really grateful, everybody was really grateful and my car stayed beautiful just like my mother I think i've come to realize that for someone to be a valet , they most likely are car enthusiasts themselves and actually care for people's cars. Unless youre an ass to them probably lol I gained a little trust but I'm still going to think twice before I valet parking my car

PS..if you read all that, you're the real MVP

Ive used a valet at a mall I drive further to go to ... because they have a valet. The guys know me now - and always keep the car by their hut - away from the rest.

I actually place my car in valet mode when using the valet. Does that make me a jerk?

Trick of the week... Tip the valet in advance and ask to park it and lock it yourself..........

You were lucky. Anyway ! No valet parking when you got a manual car. Too risky.

Every car I've had the valet usually will ask me to park it up front just outside the door, lock it and bring the key and get my claim tag. When I do so they generally tell me they want the upscale cars up front so patrons can see them plus it makes their business establishment look good! Makes sense, and with social media these days, my previous Gen 5 I thought it belong to someone else there were so many pictures of it on FB and instagram.
Great story, and respect!

My wife & I went to one of the higher end restaurants overlooking the Colombia river up here. We did valet parking & I had the same experience as my wife had her foot in a cast due to recent surgery & couldn't walk far, even had a knee scooter to get around. He put it in the first slot right next to the valet station. Commented on it being a beautiful car, knew it had the Stingray engine & made it obvious he was a appreciative of it. He had no issues backing it into the space or with my M6.

M6 shouldn't be an issue to a valet since they shouldn't need to go beyond FIRST. If they cant feather a clutch out they shouldn't be a valet lol.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm parking it myself. I don't want to hope the valet knows what he's doing!

im 99.999% sure in order for valets to get their jobs, they would need to know how to drive stick cause they never know who's going to pull up in a manual. for all i know though they could simply check "yes" on the job app where it asks if they know how to drive manual and get the job
