WATER LEAK IN TRUNK

Curious if anyone else got a water leak in the trunk? Had to replace fuse block and go through a bunch water test to find any other leaks.

First I have heard of this. Any idea where the leak came from?

Do you have a sunroof? The drain likely runs though the trunk if it gets pinched/clogged it could leak I had this happen on a cobalt ss turbo they found the speaker had pinched the drain when tightened at factory (there were 10 inch subs from factory in the trunk)

Though it could be numerous things here's my 2 cents on my experience. Good luck

I was going to ask this same thing. On the 5th gen Camaro, the drainage areas for any water caught in the crevices of the sunroof were a bit more obvious. There were two random rubber grommets behind the trunk's hinges. if you reached inside the trunk itself, there is a rubber tube that runs into each grommet. The tube itself was just barely long enough to reach the grommet and would often get disconnected, spilling water directly into the trunk area.

I have had to re-secure mine several times, but the first time this happened, it confused the hell out of and I thought my trunk wasn't well sealed. The way I eventually figured this out was I waited for the trunk to completely dry, then ran a hose over my trunk directly. When I observed no leaks, I then sprayed different parts of the car for a minute or two before checking the trunk again. If you catch the leak happening early enough, you can see the area directly below where the water first begins dripping down. When I saw two distinct wet spots fairly deep in my trunk, thats when I reached above and found the rubber tubes that carry water from the sunroof.

At our dealership when they first came out we had one with the trunk flooded and they had to replace a lot of stuff in it, I haven't seen it since that occurrence though

Funny/sad story. Years ago an owner of a Cadillac had a flat tire. When they opened the trunk to get the jack and spare, it was frozen under water. There was enough frozen water in the trunk to cover the spare.

Easy to find if you aren't clostrophobic. Get in the trunk with a flashlight and have a friend outside go around with a garden hose. But in some cases, it requires high pressure water so you may need to go to a car wash.

Fixing them on the other hand can be harder.

BTW here is how GM and most OEMs do water leak testing in the plants. UWTB is like 8,000 gallons per minute.
