Skip Shift Harness

Installing the skip shift harness into the Gen6 Camaro.

Tools needed: Long skinny flat blade screwdriver

1- Jack up front of Camaro and support with jackstands
2- Skip shift solenoid is located on the driver's side of the transmission, approx. midway straight up from the temp sensor.
3- With the screwdriver you can release the connector
4- Once the connector is removed install the Gen5DIY skip shift harness into the connector and install the opposite end into the solenoid.
5- Enjoy not being forced to make that pesky 1-4 shift

Buy jack stands. They are like $30 pretty much anywhere. One set will last you a lifetime.

Are there any DIY garages in your area? I know they are popping up more and more lately but mainly in larger towns.

Jack stands are a cheap, worthwhile investment.

If you can't, or don't want to....perhaps you can make friends with your dealer's service dept, or a local oil change shop. Bring the car in for an oil change, and while it's on the lift, ask them to perform a 5-minute upgrade.

Yes. The transmission locks out 2 and 3, under certain conditions, forcing a shift from 1 to 4. Fuel economy effort.

Ok glad I ordered A8! Hopefully this won't be an issue w/ paddle shifting

Nope, it won't. It's a manual-only thing...and I think a GM-only thing...
