Brush to clean Convertible Top

Hi All,

I am looking for a good brush to clean the top of my convertible. I bought the RAGGTOPP (https://www.amazon.com/RAGGTOPP-Natu...=car+top+brush) natural hair but this one is really bad ...

Any recommendations?

Unless you are just brushing off leaves or other heavier items, I recommend using a vacumn cleaner with the carpet brush attachment. You should vacuum lightly (not a lot of pressure). Let the vac do the job. If you have bird droppings or other such staining/acidic substances, then use the Raggtopp cleaner.

Follow up your cleaning with the Raggtopp protectant.

This is the process I have been using since 1967 on cloth/canvas tops and I haven't had to replace one yet.

A stiff brush will only loosen up the fibers, weakening the fabric. The object is to remove any grit, not brush it into the fabric. This is especially important in sandy areas where wind blows the sand around. Sand being basically glass, it isn't nice to fabric!

I read somewhere that you should use a brush that, if you rub it on the back of your hand and it doesn't scratch your skin, it's safe to use on your canvas convertible top. I broke my collarbone last year, and I had to start using a bath body brush on a long handle. When looking for a brush to use on my top, I wasn't able to find anything at local auto parts store that seemed suitable. And one day, it dawned on me that the body brush might work. I tested it out on the back of my hand to confirm, and sure enough, it felt soft enough. So I picked up one of these from Target. I've used it twice so far, and it seems to work just fine.

Just out of curiosity, what don't you like about RAGGTOPP horse hair brush? I was considering buying the RAGGTOPP kit that comes with the brush. But, if it's that bad, I'll just buy the kit without the brush.

MANNAXMAN, I used the RAGGTOPP brush only once and was very disappointed about the quality. The brush left hair all over the place. After using the brush the top looked worse than before. A lot of people buying the brush from Amazon had the same experience. Now thinking about to return the brush and get something what works.

I detail 3 convertibles every month in my part time, mobile detailing gig. Very different conditions. The brush I use depends on the convertible top.

1- 2010 Jeep Wrangler- top is sun damaged, torn, patched, etc. - for that I use a soft brush
http://www.chemicalguys.com/Body_Whe..._p/acc_g09.htm

2- 2013 Camaro 2LT- the owner bought it used and it needed help at first, now garage kept - I used a natural hair brush like this one
http://www.chemicalguys.com/Converti..._p/acc_s94.htm

3- 1994 Porche 911 13,000 miles garage kept. Small boars hair brush , very gently, once, then just spot cleaning with softest rags.

I like Chemical Guys and 303 Convertible cleaners and protectants. Theyre not the cheapest but my customers want the best.
