MMR 228 Wheels - Installers or Experts - Info Needed

After mounting my MMR 228's with Nitto NT05's I had a very difficult time getting the TPMS synced with my car. It took many tries but I finally got the TPMS set up.

For a while, anyway... made it a whole 300 miles before the right/front couldn't be read.

Tried the relearn process in the DIC, but now none of the stems will connect with the car.

I used TPMS valve stems part #: 19333062 and nuts part #: 13581557 on all 4 wheels.

Are those the right ones? Are there better ones? Am I making a lame-brained mistake somewhere? This should not be such a painful process and I'm getting very frustrated.

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Major change to the tread with a new title... help?

Some additional info:

I pulled the original wheels and tires out of storage and but them next to the MMR's, then ran the relearn. The original wheels synced with no problems.

You may need the tool. Do a search.

The TPMS situation on this car is anything but clear. Sometimes the reset for the DIC works, sometimes only the dealers tool works, and other times the scan tool works. I would contact Patrick at Cultrag (see vendor section) cand ask him to verify your part numbers and then head to the dealer and see if they can do it first.

Thanks Glen, I appreciate the input. Your advice on several other issues has been invaluable.

Well, I'm going to call my TPMS problem "resolved". I call a couple of vendors that sell and install MMR 228's and was told they can be challenging to sync. They do the relearn with the car on a lift to be able to have better access to the center of the wheel/tire.

With the valve stem being in the center of the wheel, the signal from the TPMS relearn tool is difficult for the sensor to "hear". I ended up having do the relearn process with the wheels/tires off the car. This way I could point the tool at the center of the tire and toward the valve stem. It took a good bit of work, but it's fixed. For now, anyway...

yeah I had the same problem with my MMR228 and the tool. You need to put the on the tire where the stem is. wouldn't work on the side wall.

Are the valve stems on your HRE's near the outside of the wheel or in the center like they are on the MRR's??

Finally got mine to sync yesterday with my MRR 228.

What worked for me was to reach around the back side of the wheel and point the tool right at the edge where the tire and rim meet directly in line with the valve stem.

Worked perfect and took me less then 2 min to do all 4 wheels once I figured that out , hope this helps someone else out that is having trouble with wheels that have the valve stems in the middle of the wheels like mine.

For the 228 when we sync tools I put it into relearn mode and then either put the tool to the stem and or while it is on the jack I put the tool to the bottom of the tire where the sensor is.
