What time of year is best to get absolute lowest price on a 1LE?
I'm interested in getting a '17 1SS 1LE (with only option being Hyper Blue Metallic). I'm assuming I could get the best deal if a dealer already has it on the lot vs ordering it. What time of year do you think the best deals will be available? This time next year (fall) when 2018s are on the lot as well? Or would this winter be better since this type of car may not sell well (at least in my area) during cold weather?

May not be a "best time". I don't see dealers stocking too many, and the ones they have laying around too long. Plus remember the end of year sales are only on select stock...but IF you can find a '17 leftover this time next year on a lot, they may deal more on it. But it's definitely taking a chance.

October-January are traditionally the best time of the year to buy a car. The closer to the holidays the more people are out shopping for gifts and other deals and are not visiting car lots so sales usually drop off significantly and some dealers can be willing to give better deals just to get a sale. If you want the absolute best deal on a 2017 1LE my guess is you will be better off looking next year around this time for a left over 2017 model. However you can still get a good deal even when ordering a car. The Costco car buying program is usually invoice or even under invoice depending on the model if you do not want to haggle, or if you are ok with haggling you can get several dealerships to compete for the best price, just make sure they have an allocation before you sign anything or put down a deposit.

I think there is a good chance to find one next summer on a showroom floor. Lots of '15s were around when I shopped last year. Dealers like to have a showpiece on hand to bring in customers, having the Mythical 1LE out on the front lawn or on the floor gives a Wow factor.
They might sell one or two but order an extra. It is only a $6500 option package, not a big deal for inventory....not like being stuck with $90,000 vettes. It might not be at a dealer next door, but they will be around.

Buyers were considering the 5th Gen but decided to wait because of the expected interior and performance improvements coming in 2016. That won't be the case next year. |
