Question: Valet key (other surfers)

First time I used the car to go surf. Left the key fob in car. Locked car. Have valet key on lanyard.

I come back, remove the door handle cap... Pull on it door removing cap, opens unlocked??!

Does this mean the car is not lockable with smart key inside? Or I'm an idiot and missing something. By the way 2016 fits 3 surfboards through the trunk back seat comfortably.

TIA

Yes, won't lock with key in car, also you keep popping the top off on the door handle and it won't fit after a while.

The car honking at you is telling you it reads the key inside the car still. If you want to leave it in there, you should encapsulate it in something so nobody can walk up and touch the handle button.

You'll know your solution works if the car doesn't honk when you lock it.

He's got a great point. Put it in an altoids tin box and the car Will never know it's there. It's how I pack an extra key in my luggage when I travel in the car .

I got one of these faraday pockets to block the signal. I keep it in my pocket and always slip the remote in when I leave the car. Guess I'm paranoid about someone with a scanner.

Even better thanks again...

Very odd not being to use a analog set up with the car like this.
