Power Upgrade for 1LE!

Ok guys yes I know I'm getting way ahead of my self here but I just want to what you guys think on this. Like a lot of people have said the 1LE will pretty much be a ZL1 minus 200hp so of course we need to rectify that with some power upgrades!!

My plan is fairly conservative, I don't need 600-700rwhp haha and I also want to do it without a S/C. So what do you guys think about this stage 2 LT1 upgrade from Katech?? Should be about 500rwhp (but most importantly N/A!!!) which is my eventual goal for my 1LE, for about the same or maybe a lil more than a good S/C kit. So what do you guys think???

There are several very reputable shops there in Maryland that are also vendors here. While Katech does good work, for the 8,631 you're looking at, why not shop some of them as well?

The 2017 supposedly has a different set of codes in the ECM as well.. So, I don't know what affect that will have on all shops (including Katech) but at the moment they're supposedly not tuneable.

Also, my follow up question would be.. You're about to get a 2017 1LE, kill the entire power train warranty on it, sink almost 10Gs in to it... Why not wait and see what the ZL1 price is going to come in at? You'll have all the power and more, plus a couple ZL1 only options and you'll still have full warranty and the total price difference may not be that much.

That's why I said I know I'm getting way ahead of myself haha I won't be doing any warranty voiding mods for at least a few years. I just wanted to see what everyone thinks of the value of this package. And I would love a ZL1, but for now that is way out of my price range, plus like I said I don't really want the S/C. If I can get my 1LE to 500rwhp I will be more than satisfied with that much power. And by the time I am ready to void the warranty the $8k for that package wouldn't be a problem. But about other shops in Maryland, Iv'e only been stationed there a little over a year and haven't done too much research about local vendors.

I am not in the know on the differences between the LT1 and the LS3, but I think I heard somewhere they are much more expensive to cam. The stage 2 shows that, as $8,600+ is no less than 3 times what it cost me to cam my LS3.

NO THANKS!!

It is a high priced package system. Probably do better just waiting until every starts building there own engines and watch to see what makes the most power. Search the corvette forums. For $8,600 I would want heads cam headers Cai intake and tune with the service done.

They are due mostly to the AFM/DOD components that make the cam phasing set up more complicated to mess with.

It's a lot more than just the cam, pretty much the only other thing you would need would be headers and exhaust, which I will have on my car long before considering extensive engine mods.

But yea it is pretty expensive haha maybe in a year or 2 it will be a little cheaper to mod/tune the LT1, I have plenty of time to weigh my options.

Did you even read the full package? It's cams, heads, CAI, ported throttle body, atomic air force intake, lifters, valve springs, valve seals, Dyno tune. And it has a 12,000 mile warranty. So yea it's expensive but it doesn't seem insanely expensive like Hennessy and Callaway for example.

OHHHHH.....I missed the Heads and Warranty part. That makes a great deal more sense, and is actually a fairly reasonable price considering the warranty.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I *might* have similar goals and *might* have researched this a bit for Grand Sport and 1LE....

If I were to want 500-525whp NA (and also didn't want to lose DOD/AFM or any drivability) here's what I'd do...

-Intake
-Longtube Headers 2in (as the LT1 doesn't really seem to lose much/if any torque with big headers - this gives room to grow with no drawback) with catless 3in X-pipe
-3in NPP/NPP-Style mufflers (npp not necessary but I like it - 3in piping you'd want for sure tho)
-Ported LT1 intake OR MSD Intake
-Ported stock TB
-Comp Cams XFI™ AFM 274PIIHR18 Camshaft
-E85 Flex fuel sensor and tune for all of above

Should put in the 515-535whp ballpark

If you don't want to do a cam... Just buy longtubes, an ECS1500 blower, and a tune... 500-575whp all day
